Minecraft is a sandbox game that allows the player to interact with, explore, and adjust a digitally generated map made of blocks. Concrete is increasingly becoming popular in Minecraft creation as it used to make these blocks. So, how do you make concrete?

To make concrete, you need concrete powder and water. Concrete is formed when the powder comes into contact with flowing water. It has to be flowing water because this powder doesn’t react with bottled water or rainwater. To make your concrete look brighter and less grainy, immerse it in water for some time.

Concrete is harder than stone, making it a good choice for building materials. This hard feature of concrete makes it suitable for fortification. However, compared to stone, concrete has a lower blast resistance.

In this article, I will talk about how to make different colors of concrete in Minecraft. I will also explain how to make concrete powder and the fastest way to turn this powder into concrete. There is information on how to dye concrete, how the dyes are obtained and so much more. Read on if you want to know more about making concrete in Minecraft.

Concrete comes in sixteen color variations. Unlike terracotta, the colors of concrete are bright and more pronounced. Note that there are different versions of Minecraft and each version has its own way of making colored concrete. Examples of these versions include Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, and Legacy Console Edition. Read on to learn how to make different colored concrete.

How to make grey concrete in Minecraft

Grey concrete may well be the most common color of concrete. There are certain tools and materials that you need to make grey concrete. Sadly, you can’t craft grey concrete using a crafting table. Before you begin making your grey concrete, ensure you have a version of Minecraft that supports grey concrete.

You can find grey concrete in the following Minecraft Versions:

How to make concrete powder in Minecraft

In contrast to concrete blocks, the concrete powder can be crafted on a crafting table. You will need the following:

  • Four pieces of gravel
  • Four blocks of sand
  • Dye of any color

You then place each component in any of the nine squares on the crafting table. You don’t have to follow any particular order. However, I suggest that you place sand in the bottom middle, top middle, right middle, and left middle of the table. You can place gravel in the four parts of the drafting table. The dye comes at the center of the table.

With these ratios, you are likely to receive 8 pieces of concrete powder. The dye you use will determine the color of your powder. Note that, once crafted, you cannot change the color of the powder. The dye is permanent.

Before we move on, let us look at a few uses of gravel in Minecraft

Uses of Gravel in Minecraft

Gravel is a key ingredient when crafting concrete powders. Naturally, gravel is generated in disks, on beaches, and mountain biomes. Nonetheless, there are several other uses of gravel in Minecraft. They include:

1. The snare drum sound in Minecraft

If you wish to add music to Minecraft, you can introduce a note block. This note block enables you to create your music.

2. Flint

The best source of flint in Minecraft is gravel. When you mine a block of gravel, there is a high chance of pieces of flint dropping. When mined using an enchanted tool, the chances of pieces of flint dropping increases. Nonetheless, sometimes gravel does not produce any flint. This usually happens when you mine using a tool called silk touch.

3. Coarse Dirt

You can use gravel to craft coarse dirt in Minecraft even though they (coarse dirt) naturally generate in some of the bandland plateau biomes. Gravel is a more suitable alternative to coarse dirt since it has an excellent texture for making buildings and footpaths.

4. Trading

You can trade gravel for extra flints and emeralds. For instance, you can use 26 flints and exchange them for an emerald. Rage varies depending on the Minecraft version you’ve.

For instance, in the java edition, Apprentice-level leatherworker villagers have a two-thirds chance to buy 26 flints for an emerald. Trading gravel is beneficial since through it you can level up your Fletcher villages.

Where to get sand in Minecraft

How to Make Concrete in Minecraft: 12 Things You Need to Know

Sand is an essential commodity in mine crafts as a lot of activities require sand. Fortunately, sand is common and easily found. Huge sand deposits are found in the desert, or the banks of ponds. You need a lot of sand if you intend to have bigger building projects.

The largest sources of sand are desert biomes since they have the highest number of sand blocks in the smallest of spaces.

Your players can mine and collect sand using their shulker boxes and diamond shovels. There is no limit to how much sand they can mine. Be careful not to use a fortune enchanted shovel.

Brewing and Enchanting

The concrete powder can also be mined. The quickest method is by using a shovel. Some tools in Minecraft such as shovels and other weapons may be enchanted. Enchanting is used to upgrade armor, weapons, or tools. This process takes place at an enchanting table.

What is the fastest way to turn concrete powder into concrete?

The fastest way to turn concrete powder into concrete is by using water. As soon as a concrete powder stone comes into contact with water, it hardens almost immediately. That said if you choose to use water, ensure that you fetch some in a bucket. This is because the concrete powder doesn’t react with waterbodies, rains, or bottled water.

You can also farm for concrete blocks quickly by holding the powder in one hand and a pickaxe in the other hand. Essentially, you are holding both the left and right mouse buttons. The result is continuous mining of concrete blocks.

There are some concrete powder characteristics that you need to understand. This powder behaves like gravel and sand. When placed, the concrete powder cannot float therefore forces of gravity are bound to act on it. In powder form, Concrete is almost useless. This is why you need to transform it into usable concrete blocks.

Concrete can be crafted into stairs, slabs, bricks, and walls. It gives room for a fully functional building block. You can paint concrete with dye by right-clicking on a concrete bock. This allows for more colored blocks, instead of the common wool. If you accidentally break a colored concrete block, it usually returns to its original grey state.

Another exciting method is by building a tower of concrete powder and pouring water on it. As the water trickles down the tower, the concrete powder hardens. Nonetheless, you will have to mine straight ad keep repeating the process.

If you don’t fancy placing and building blocks, you can build a structure using concrete powder, then cover it with water. This will yield the same results as concrete blocks.

Can you change the color of the concrete Minecraft?

You can change the color of concrete by using dyes and stains. Your color of choice will depend on whether the concrete is outdoors or indoor. If you fancy an intense color, use concrete dyes. If you want a warm, more relaxing color, then consider concrete stains

Concrete blocks come in bright, vibrant colors giving you a wide variety to choose from.

How do you dye concrete?

You can dye concrete by combining concrete powder, gravel, sand, and the dye of your choice. As mentioned earlier, there are sixteen different dyes in Minecraft. Some of these dyes are easier to obtain than others. These dye can be obtained through trading, melting, or crafting

Most of the dyes can be found naturally. However, some are complex colors and require the mixing of two primary colors. The most common dyes are:

  • White which is made from bones
  • Blue which is made from lapis lazuli
  • Red which is made from roses
  • Black which is made from in sacks
  • Yellow which is obtained from flowers

To craft 8 pieces of concrete powder, you will need at least one dye. If you require a lot of dyes, you can do so by collecting flowers and killing skeletons. Another option is combining colors to come up with new colors. For instance, combining white and black will give you a grey dye.

Here are a few points to note about concrete include:

  • Always mine the concrete with a pickaxe or else you risk losing the block
  • Concrete powder obeys gravity and will fall especially if there is nothing below it.
  • Water from rain and water bottles does not harden Concrete

Minecraft entails so much more than just concrete and concrete powders.
