Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine for 24 years, making his debut in the 2000 film X-Men and continuing to appear in the franchise for decades.

Although Logan, released in 2017, was intended to be Wolverine’s farewell, featuring the character’s death, Jackman has since confirmed multiple times that this film marked the end of his tenure as Wolverine.

When Jackman announced his return to the role for Deadpool & Wolverine, fans were thrilled. This appearance won’t alter Wolverine’s fate as depicted in Logan; instead, it will feature a variant of the character. Despite Kevin Feige’s efforts to persuade Jackman against returning, the compelling story pitched by Reynolds and Jackman convinced him that it wouldn’t compromise the original Wolverine’s character arc.

The question now is whether Jackman will continue portraying Wolverine in the MCU’s future projects, especially with the new era of mutants beginning in the MCU.

At 55 years old, Jackman’s ability to continue playing the action role of Wolverine in the next decade is uncertain. The question of who might succeed him has come up frequently, with Daniel Radcliffe being a popular choice among fans.

In a recent interview with LADBible TV, Jackman addressed the possibility of Radcliffe taking over the role. While Jackman acknowledged that Radcliffe could potentially take on the role, he stopped short of endorsing his performance capabilities.

And of course he could play… the question was could he play it? I didn’t say he’d play it well.

Several months ago, there were rumors that Radcliffe might appear in the MCU as another Wolverine variant, alongside Henry Cavill. Radcliffe has addressed these rumors multiple times over the years.

It’s purely a press tour rumor; I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth.Source: GQ
