Hulk Finally Discovers the Simple Secret to Defeating Thanos
Hulk is among the most formidable characters in Marvel Comics, primarily due to his immense strength and near-immortality. Few villains can claim to have bested Hulk in battle, with Thanos being the notable exception.
Thanos managed to prevail in almost every encounter with Hulk in both the comics and the MCU by seldom relying on brute force. Instead, he opted to outsmart Hulk and employ superior abilities that made it challenging for Hulk to effectively counter his attacks.
The Incredible Hulk Annual (2024) #1 changes the game, as Hulk discovers a way to defeat Thanos that doesn’t rely on his raw strength. Instead, Hulk takes an unusual approach—he delivers a sucker punch to the villain.
Written by Derek Landy and illustrated by Geoff Shaw, this installment of the “Infinity Watch” crossover storyline presents Hulk as a formidable adversary to Thanos in his quest for the Infinity Stones.
However, the battle unfolds differently than Thanos expected, as Hulk not only refuses to be defeated but also adopts a more ruthless fighting style, shedding the inhibitions that had held him back in previous encounters.
When Thanos tries to confront Hulk, presumably to issue orders, Hulk seizes the moment to fight dirty. He lands a swift punch to Thanos’s gut and even bites the Mad Titan, showcasing his newfound ferocity.
This new incarnation of Hulk moves beyond mere savagery and brute strength; he is now a cunning manipulator who isn’t afraid to fight dirty.
As a result, Thanos is swiftly overpowered by the Jade Giant, with Colleen Wing delivering the final blow using her katana.
Hulk and Thanos have clashed multiple times in the comics, but this marks only the second occasion where Hulk has emerged as a clear victor!
