Hulu Officially Greenlights The Handmaid’s Tale Sequel The Testaments

Hulu has confirmed that The Testaments, the follow-up to The Handmaid’s Tale, is officially moving forward. Production begins on April 7, with the series based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel. Set over 15 years after The Handmaid’s Tale, the story follows a new generation of young women growing up in Gilead’s strict and oppressive society.

Elisabeth Moss, who played June Osbourne in The Handmaid’s Tale, will executive produce and may appear as a guest star. Whether she returns depends on how The Handmaid’s Tale concludes in its final season, premiering April 8.

The main cast includes Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, and Ann Dowd reprising her role as Aunt Lydia. New cast members include Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien.

They will play characters such as strict Aunts, young women struggling under Gilead’s rules, and a Martha offering care and guidance.

Bruce Miller serves as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Warren Littlefield, Moss, and others. Mike Barker will direct the first three episodes, with MGM Television producing the series.

Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale can look forward to this next chapter, exploring how young women in Gilead fight for their future and freedom.
