Few rising stars have had a year quite like Inde Navarrette. Her breakout turn as Nikki in Curry Barker’s horror sensation ‘Obsession’ turned her into one of Hollywood’s hottest names, with the film made on a $750,000 budget going on to gross more than $500 million worldwide. It became the first original film of the 2020s to cross that milestone.

Her momentum hasn’t slowed since. At D23 in August, Marvel announced that Navarrette will join the MCU as Rogue in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ film, and her next horror project, ‘Invertigo’, has already been shot. Yet one of her biggest passions lies outside of film entirely: video games.

Now Navarrette has made it clear which video game adaptation she has her sights on. Speaking with Collider’s Aidan Kelley at the Newport Beach Film Festival, she said she would definitely join the upcoming ‘Call of Duty’ movie from Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg if given the chance.

When asked what it would take to get her on board, she didn’t hesitate. “Nothing. It’s a phone call. It’s a text. If they call me, they’re like, ‘There’s a car outside. You gotta go.’ Definitely, I’m a big fan. I’m really excited to see what they do,” she told Collider.

Her enthusiasm comes from a genuine place. Navarrette is a former gaming streamer who played ‘Call of Duty’, ‘Halo’ and ‘Red Dead Redemption’ on Twitch, and she grew up playing the franchise alongside her older brother.

Navarrette’s love for the series has become part of her public story. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she built her own gaming PC and began streaming from home, with her ‘Call of Duty’ broadcasts helping her grow an audience of more than 72,500 followers on Twitch.

That fandom was celebrated at Fanatics Fest NYC in July, where a fan surprised her with a sealed 2009 copy of ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’, a collectible reportedly worth around $1,000. The official ‘Call of Duty’ social account even chimed in, joking that the obsession is real.

Navarrette isn’t alone in campaigning for a role. ‘Smile 2’ star Ray Nicholson also spoke with Collider about his desire to join the adaptation, though he joked that the filmmakers likely want an all-British cast and that his accent might hold him back. Both actors may need some patience, though. No casting has been announced for the film so far.

The live-action adaptation is being directed by Berg, with Sheridan co-writing the screenplay. Paramount and Activision are producing the project, which will be set in the ‘Modern Warfare’ universe.

Berg recently shared that the film will focus on the human cost of war and the burden carried by soldiers, rather than simply delivering a popcorn shooter. He also praised the games’ characters as complicated humans with a real soul beneath the action.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 30, 2028, timed to the franchise’s 25th anniversary. That leaves plenty of room for casting news well ahead of release. Navarrette’s range in ‘Obsession’, shifting from warm and relaxed to deeply unsettling, has impressed audiences and critics alike.

Combined with her authentic gaming credentials and rapidly growing star power, she could make an intriguing addition to a grounded, character-driven war story. Whether Berg and Sheridan ever pick up the phone remains to be seen. For now, Navarrette has made her availability very public, and fans seem more than ready to see her suit up.
