Iron Studios’ New Doctor Doom Statue Teases a Mysterious Object Fans Can’t Stop Theorizing About

Marvel merchandise has become its own strange form of storytelling ahead of major blockbusters, offering fans tiny visual clues long before trailers or reviews arrive. That has never been more true than with Robert Downey Jr.’s upcoming turn as the MCU’s most infamous villain, a role that has already generated an avalanche of toys, statues, and collectibles months before the film even opens.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has become something of a merchandising machine in its own right, with manufacturers racing to capture every angle of Victor Von Doom before his December debut. Iron Studios has already confirmed a specially painted MiniCo Doctor Doom figure created specifically for D23, and that is just one piece of a much larger collectible rollout tied to the film.

The latest reveal comes courtesy of ComicBook.com, which shared a fresh look at Iron Studios’ Doctor Doom Throne Deluxe figure, showing Victor seated on an ornate chair while gripping a mysterious object in one hand. The post playfully asked “What are you holding, Victor?”, pointing fans toward the intricately carved throne and the item clutched in Doom’s grasp, a detail that has quickly become the center of online speculation.

That throne itself has been a recurring focus for Iron Studios. The 1/10 scale Doctor Doom statue stands 8.8 inches tall and features hand painted detail, with three swappable hands that let the character wield a dark orb, hold an artifact, or strike a spellcasting pose. The throne room itself is packed with unique symbols, giving the whole piece the feel of a seat fit for a god. That kind of interchangeable design has made the figure a magnet for fan theories about what exactly Doom is holding and why it matters to the story.

Iron Studios has leaned into the mystical angle elsewhere too. The Doctor Doom Throne Deluxe figure shows Victor seated with one hand grasping an object atop a chair covered in mystical runes, and every angle of these figures has given theorists more material to pore over regarding why Victor Von Doom exists in the MCU wearing Downey Jr.’s face under the mask. Even the character’s signature accessory has become a talking point, since official posters and merchandise consistently show the villain wearing a curious yellow arm band that nobody has fully explained yet.

Is this book the Darkhold?

The collectible blitz extends well beyond this single figure. Iron Studios has also unveiled a massive quarter scale rendition of the character, and that 26 inch tall Doctor Doom statue is expected to ship between July and September of 2027, with pre-orders currently priced at $1,300. A separate Legacy Replica take on the villain places him in an even bigger spotlight, since that 26.7 inch statue lets collectors swap between crossed arm and mystical power poses while Doom stands atop a sculpted Sentinel hand.

All of this merchandising is building toward one of the most anticipated Marvel releases in years. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ brings together Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, alongside the Fantastic Four cast and the returning New Avengers roster, with the film set to hit theaters December 18.

With every new figure adding another layer to the mystery surrounding Doom’s powers and intentions, it’s worth asking what fans think Victor is actually holding on that throne, and what it might reveal about his role in the film.
