Is Guy Sensei in Boruto? Can He Fight?
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the official sequel to Masahi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga and anime. Although it introduced us to a new era of the world of the shinobi, Boruto never cut ties with the original series, which is why a lot of old characters appeared in the new series as well. One of them is Might Guy, who is going to be the topic of this article. In this article, we are going to tell you whether Might Guy, whose role certainly diminished after Naruto, appears in Boruto and what happened to him.
Might Guy does appear in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. His story is continued from the events we saw at the end of Naruto: Shippuden, where he lost the ability to use his leg due to an injury. He retired from being an active shinobi but continued to teach at the academy, giving numerous lectures and specializing in taijutsu. Despite his handicap, he was able to spar on one occasion.
The rest of the article is going to focus on Might Guy and his story in the Boruto manga and anime series. You’re going to find out what exactly happened to Might Guy in the series, as well as how and when he appeared in Boruto, and what his overall role in the sequel is. We’ve prepared an interesting article for you, so stick with us to the end, but be careful, as there are going to be spoilers.
Is Might Guy in Boruto?
Might Guy’s story in Boruto actually starts with the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War, which reveals Guy’s fate in the story and his overall destiny as far as the future is concerned. Shippuden left us with the fact that Guy was seriously injured, but it was not until The Last: Naruto the Movie that it was confirmed that Guy’s right leg was irreparably damaged and he was confined to a wheelchair. He himself can, therefore, no longer actively participate in fights. Later, he is one of the guests at Naruto and Hinata’s wedding, where the thoughts of Neji are cherished. In the epilogue, he is still in a wheelchair and is now older. He and Kakashi talk about him resigning as Hokage so Naruto can take over. Kakashi thinks of going on a nostalgic tour with Mirai Sarutobi as her companion. He and Guy reminisce about old times and also talk about the place where they fought each other for the first time.
A year after the events of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Guy is confined to a wheelchair. However, this does not prevent him from sneaking onto the Tobishachimaru for its maiden voyage along with Lee. He knows that Kakashi is also present – in contrast to him as a guest – and doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to have flown with such an airship once.
Of course, his student Lee helps him with this project. Up to a certain point in time, the two are not discovered, but soon Lee gives himself away, draws Kakashi’s attention to himself, and finds her in the kitchen. Guy is not impressed by Kakashi’s speech about his rival getting seasick – after all, this isn’t a ship; it’s an airship. But they don’t have much time to argue because they are interrupted by screams from the dining room. Kakashi wastes no time, leaving Guy’s wheelchair in place and crawling with its owner through the ventilation shaft to above the dining room lounge.
There, Guy watches as an enormously tall man, and his people round up the passengers, threatening to execute everyone every ten minutes. But their hope of remaining undetected fails – shortly afterward, they are faced with all sorts of weapons and enemy shinobi. In the heat of the moment, Guy gets separated from Kakashi but finds Pakkun, which he uses to collect all the bombs on the ship.
To get Kakashi out of his predicament among the enemies, he uses the Nin-Ken to plant bombs in the pilot’s cockpit as a distraction. The ensuing explosion buys Kakashi some time to defend himself. In addition, Guy encourages him with a thumbs up from the ventilation shaft. However, as Kakashi’s situation begins to deteriorate, Guy decides with an impassioned – and hobbling – performance to support his rival despite his injury. A fight between Rahyou and Guy follows, in which the latter seems equal but soon has to admit defeat to seasickness.
Not in any way, but directly in the opponent’s face, furiously and angrily, he hits him, but Guy is lucky: Seasickness Fist was born out of necessity. While stopping his opponent, Kakashi gets into trouble with his counterpart. Kahyou, the sister of the leader Rahyou, goes into a blind rage, destroying half the ship while they are at 10,000 meters.
The soon-to-be-created suction sucks Guy and Kakashi down, but they are surprisingly saved by Sai. This brings Guy, who is barely able to think clearly, back to Konohagakure. Once there, Guy almost immediately meets Tsunade’s fist, who is furious at Guy’s sudden disappearance. However, he is able to describe in detail what is happening in the air – a great advantage for Konoha.
Four months after this incident, he and Lee tease Kakashi about his relationship with Kahyou, which they know is not romantic. Still, Guy has fun teasing his rather confused rival. A year and a half after the events of Kakashi Hiden, Guy is extremely agile despite his wheelchair and, despite jumping off a roof, meets Rock Lee during this early morning workout.
The two team up to find a suitable gift for Naruto and Hinata for their wedding. However, the student and master have no idea until Guy recalls his previously discarded idea – dumbbells. Completely convinced, they go to a shop and buy the unusual gift. Later, Guy is at the wedding with his protege, proudly presenting his unusual gift while being reprimanded by a laughing Tenten.
As for his story in Boruto, in which he does appear, we find out that he retired from being an active shinobi but continued to teach at the academy, giving numerous lectures and specializing in taijutsu. Despite his handicap, he was able to spar on one occasion against Metal and Iwabee in a two-on-one handicap.
