'Jackass: Best and Last' Sets Paramount+ Release Date

After more than two decades of broken bones, painful stunts, ridiculous pranks, and moments that probably should never have been filmed, the Jackass crew is getting one last chance to make fans laugh from the safety of their couches. Jackass: Best and Last is coming to Paramount+ on September 24, giving viewers another chance to experience what is being presented as the final chapter of the long-running franchise.

The movie originally arrived in theaters on June 26 and serves as the fifth main Jackass film. Jeff Tremaine, who has been behind the franchise since its early days, returns as director. The project brings together familiar members of the group, including Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Dave England, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, Bam Margera, and Ehren McGhehey.

What makes this movie different from a normal sequel is that it is designed partly as a celebration of everything Jackass has been over the years. The film brings together older stunts and pranks that fans already know, along with new footage and material that had not previously been released. So, while there are fresh moments to discover, the movie is also meant to look back at the wild journey that started more than 20 years ago.

That mix of old and new could make the streaming release especially appealing to longtime fans. Someone who has followed the franchise since the MTV days can revisit some of the group’s most memorable disasters, while newer viewers can get a quick look at why Jackass became such a huge part of pop culture. The film is not simply trying to repeat the past. It is using the past to build one final collection of moments from the crew.

There is also a much more serious reason why this chapter feels different. Johnny Knoxville has spent years dealing with the physical consequences of the stunts that helped make him famous. During the production of Jackass Forever, he was badly injured after being hit by a bull. The accident left him with a brain hemorrhage, a concussion, a broken wrist, and a broken rib. Since then, Knoxville has stepped away from many of the most dangerous stunts.

That history gives Best and Last a different feeling than the earlier films. Jackass has always been about seeing how far the crew can push themselves, but there comes a point when age and injuries make some of those challenges much harder to justify. The idea of ending on their own terms makes this final movie feel less like another sequel and more like a goodbye.

Knoxville has also been open about how emotional the ending is for him. During CinemaCon, he told Variety that this is the last Jackass movie and explained that knowing it was their final outing pushed the group to put even more effort into making it special. In Paramount’s own announcement, Knoxville also described the project as a kind of love letter to the franchise and the fans who have supported the group for 25 years.

That emotional side is important because Jackass has never really been only about the stunts. The strange friendship between the performers has always been a huge part of the appeal. Fans keep coming back not just to see someone get launched into the air or take an absurd challenge, but because they have watched these people grow older together and continue finding reasons to make each other laugh.

The streaming release also completes Paramount+’s Jackass collection. The earlier theatrical films are already available on the service, so adding Best and Last means subscribers can go through the franchise from its earlier years all the way to what is being billed as its final movie.
