“Waller” was announced in 2022 as a spinoff of “Peacemaker,” with Viola Davis starring again as Amanda Waller. Unlike “Peacemaker,” this show won’t be a comedy since Waller is a more serious character, and the tone will match that.
The show was originally set to release in 2024, but with James Gunn working on other DCU projects, the release date is now unclear.
Since James Gunn hasn’t talked much about the show in recent interviews, many fans are questioning if it’s still being worked on. Thankfully, Gunn, who is very active on social media and often answers fan questions, confirmed that the show is in active development. However, that’s all the information he’s sharing for now.
Understandable if you can’t currently say but is Waller still in active development as it hasn’t been mentioned in recent interviews when talking about upcoming projects.

A few months ago, James Gunn confirmed that Waller will take place after Peacemaker Season 2, making the timeline for these projects pretty straightforward. So far, the release dates match their in-universe order, with Creature Commandos happening first, followed by Superman: Legacy, and then Peacemaker Season 2, which will occur after Superman.
The cast for Waller is still unknown, apart from Viola Davis, who will reprise her role from the former DCEU. Davis will make her DCU debut in Creature Commandos, set to release on December 5, 2024.
