Yesterday, it was announced that Beck Bennett is set to join the cast of the upcoming ‘Superman,’ currently filming in Georgia. Bennett will be alongside David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Speculations about Bennett’s role circulated until James Gunn clarified on his private Instagram account that Bennett will be playing Steve Lombard.

Beck Bennett is known for his work as a comedian, actor, and writer, primarily gaining recognition as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” He showcased his comedic skills through various characters and impressions on the show. Bennett has also appeared in numerous television shows and films.

In the upcoming ‘Superman’ movie, Bennett’s role as Steve Lombard isn’t central to the story. He seems to be there mostly for comic relief. Lombard, a sports columnist at the Daily Planet, is part of Superman’s supporting cast, alongside characters like Clark Kent, Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant, and Ron Troupe. With a football background, Lombard is known for his self-centered and goofy behavior, often adding humor to the narrative. Despite his pranks, especially on Clark Kent, Lombard considers Kent a close friend.

‘Superman’ is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on July 11, 2025, as part of the DCU’s ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.’
