Jar Jar Binks’ Kill Count is Shockingly High for a “Harmless” Character

When it comes to the most disliked Star Wars characters, Jar Jar Binks often comes to mind. Introduced in The Phantom Menace as comic relief, many fans felt his humor was out of sync with the franchise’s more serious and epic tone, making him a polarizing figure. The backlash against Jar Jar was so intense that actor Ahmed Best faced relentless harassment from fans and, at one point, even contemplated suicide due to the abuse.
However, it’s not just Jar Jar Binks’ mannerisms and speech that rile us up. His role in Attack of the Clones—where he proposed granting emergency powers to Chancellor Palpatine, setting the stage for the rise of the Galactic Empire—adds to the ire. This pivotal moment has fueled a long-standing fan theory that Jar Jar is secretly a Sith Lord.
There are several intriguing arguments supporting the theory that Jar Jar Binks might be a Sith Lord. For instance, his seemingly clumsy movements could be a cover for his use of the Force, and his shared home planet with Palpatine hints at a deeper connection. Additionally, his keen situational awareness suggests he might be more intelligent than he appears. Another point of interest is his kill count.
In a universe like Star Wars, where it’s challenging to maintain a zero kill count, Jar Jar surprisingly ranks 52nd with 38 recorded kills out of nearly 200 characters listed. His accidental deaths include seven droids and a droideka in The Phantom Menace, a bat-like creature in Star Wars Adventures, and 27 individuals—including a Stone Guardian and several cultists—in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. While many of these deaths were unintended, his total kill count surpasses even that of Moff Gideon.
