Jason Momoa’s Son Nakoa-Wolf Cast Alongside Ida Brooke In The Upcoming Sci-Fi Epic

The third chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune saga is taking shape, with two fresh faces joining the epic sci-fi series. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke have been cast as Leto II and Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides and Chani, according to Nexus Point News.

The film, slated for release on December 18, 2026, will see Villeneuve return as writer and director, continuing the story from Frank Herbert’s novels.

Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, making his acting debut, will star alongside his father, Jason Momoa, who reprises his role as Duncan Idaho. In this installment, Duncan returns as a “ghola,” a resurrected version of the character, created by Scytale, played by Robert Pattinson.

Ida Brooke, known for roles in Silo and The Primrose Railway Children, will portray Ghanima. The twins, briefly introduced as newborns in Herbert’s Dune Messiah, take on larger roles as teenagers in the upcoming film, which appears to blend elements of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. In the latter novel, the twins, aged nine, confront their aunt Alia and the Corrino family, with Leto II later becoming emperor.

Iconic Composer Collaborates with Denis Villeneuve for ‘Dune Messiah’ Score Again

Returning cast members include Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Hans Zimmer is already composing the score, having started work after Villeneuve hinted at the project by leaving a copy of Dune Messiah on his desk. Filming is set to begin in July 2025 and wrap by year’s end, with Legendary backing the production.

Villeneuve, who began writing the script in 2023, has emphasized quality over speed. “I want to make sure that if we go back there a third time I want it to be good and I want it to be even better than Part Two,” he told reporters. He noted that Dune Messiah takes place 12 years after the first novel, and he may delay filming to allow Chalamet to age naturally for the role.

While Villeneuve plans to end his Dune journey with this film, he’s open to others continuing the saga. “They are beautiful books. They become more difficult to adapt. I will not do it myself, but it could happen with someone else,” he said last year.

Casting Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke as the Atreides twins is an exciting move, blending new talent with the established Dune ensemble. Villeneuve’s commitment to perfecting this final chapter raises hopes for a thrilling conclusion, but combining two complex novels might be a challenge.

I’m curious to see how the time jump and the twins’ teenage years will shape the story. What do you think about the new cast and Villeneuve’s vision for Dune 3? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
