Jason Sudeikis Confirms ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Is in the Works

Big news for everyone who’s been missing AFC Richmond—‘Ted Lasso’ is coming back for a fourth season. Jason Sudeikis, the man behind the lovable coach, has confirmed he’s on board, starring and leading the charge as executive producer. Apple TV+ gave the green light, and I couldn’t be more excited to see where this story takes us next.
The show’s been a hit since it dropped in 2020, bringing us three seasons of heartwarming comedy. Sudeikis plays Ted, an American football coach who somehow ends up running a British soccer team. By the end of Season 3, he’d left London to head back to Kansas, coaching his son’s youth team. Now, word is the new season will kick off with some scenes filmed in Kansas—likely Kansas City—before Ted makes his way back to the UK.
The core cast is shaping up nicely. Hannah Waddingham, who plays team owner Rebecca, is locked in. So are Brett Goldstein as the gruff Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift as the quirky Leslie Higgins. Juno Temple, our favorite Keeley, is still in talks to return, but it sounds like they’re working hard to make it happen. These folks are the heart of Richmond’s management crew, and I’m glad we’ll see them again.
The writers have been busy for a couple of months already, hammering out scripts. Sudeikis is co-running the show with Jack Burditt, a comedy pro who’s worked on ‘Modern Family’ and ‘30 Rock’. Production’s aiming to start in July, and they’re about to cast some new faces to mix things up. It’s all coming together fast.
Sudeikis dropped a little hint about what’s ahead, saying the Richmond crew will learn to ‘leap before they look’ this time around. It’s a fun twist on the usual advice, and it makes me think they’re diving into something bold. Maybe it ties to that women’s team idea Rebecca and Keeley cooked up in the Season 3 finale—I’d love to see where that goes.
Last we saw Ted, he was back in Kansas, but the show’s always been about AFC Richmond. Even with him stepping away from coaching the men’s team, the story’s sticking with the club. The focus seems to be on the management side rather than the players, which feels like a fresh angle after three seasons of locker room drama.
The cast is a mix of old friends and some question marks. Brendan Hunt, aka Coach Beard, doesn’t have an acting deal yet, but he’s already writing with Sudeikis and Goldstein. Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt, might only pop in briefly because he’s tied up with a new untitled HBO show. Nick Mohammed’s Nate could also make a comeback—fingers crossed.
‘Ted Lasso’ has racked up 13 Emmys, including two for best comedy series. Sudeikis and Goldstein each snagged two acting awards, and Waddingham grabbed one too. It’s easy to see why—Ted’s optimism and the team’s quirks hit just right, especially when it launched during the pandemic.
So, get ready. ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 is happening, and with Sudeikis at the helm, it’s bound to be another round of laughs, heart, and maybe a few surprises. Can’t wait to see what leaps they take next.
