Jennifer Lopez Is Giving Netflix’s ‘Office Romance’ the Full Rom-Com Queen Treatment During Press

Few stars know how to sell a romantic comedy quite like Jennifer Lopez, and after years of action thrillers and dramatic turns, the genre’s most recognizable leading lady is stepping back onto familiar ground. With romantic comedies quietly mounting a streaming comeback, Netflix appears determined to lead that revival, and ‘Office Romance’ is the platform’s biggest swing yet.

The film pairs Lopez with ‘Ted Lasso’ breakout Brett Goldstein in a raunchy workplace love story described as being about “a secret office romance and the trouble two workaholics get in when they start thinking with their hearts.” Behind the camera, the movie is directed by Ol Parker, whose credits include ‘Ticket to Paradise’ and ‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again’, while the screenplay was co-written by Goldstein and Joe Kelly, the creative duo behind ‘Ted Lasso’.

As the June 5 premiere approaches, Lopez has thrown herself fully into press mode, and the results have been impossible to ignore. A widely shared photo from a recent photo call captures her blowing a kiss at the official ‘Office Romance’ Netflix poster, an effortlessly playful image that went viral and reminded everyone exactly why she has headlined this genre for over two decades. Style commentators noted that Lopez worked a simple, glamorous look for the Los Angeles photo call, describing it as uncomplicated and unfussy in the best possible way.

In the film, Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a perfectionist CEO whose employees are scared to even breathe around her, while Goldstein plays Daniel Blanchflower, the company’s ambitious new lawyer who falls hard for her despite the professional stakes. The supporting ensemble includes Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, and Edward James Olmos.

The chemistry between the two leads clearly extended well beyond the set during the press run. At the world premiere, Goldstein admitted he was deeply nervous sending the script to Lopez in the first place, telling Variety, “I knew I was a huge fan of hers, and she was brilliant but I didn’t know if we’d get on, if we’d make a good film together.” Lopez, for her part, revealed on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live‘ that Goldstein’s note accompanying the script made his intentions clear from the start, telling her she was at the top of a list of one and that if she passed, the film simply would not get made.

The world premiere took place at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles on May 26, 2026, with Lopez, Goldstein, and director Ol Parker all walking the carpet together. It marks a return to Netflix for Lopez, who previously starred in the platform’s action thriller ‘The Mother’ and the sci-fi actioner ‘Atlas’, but this time she is firmly back in the territory that made her a household name.

With the film landing on Netflix on June 5 and the press run already generating serious buzz, ‘Office Romance’ looks poised to be a major moment for both Lopez and the rom-com genre at large. Whether you fell in love with J.Lo through ‘Maid in Manhattan’ or came to her work more recently, it is worth sharing below which era of her romantic comedy career you think was her peak.
