Jeremy Renner, Star of MCU’s Hawkeye, Experienced Clinical Death in Snowplow Accident

More than a year ago, Jeremy Renner, also known as Hawkeye to fans, faced a terrifying and life-threatening accident. On January 1, 2023, he was hospitalized after a severe accident involving his snowplow at home, resulting in blunt chest trauma and 30 broken bones.

The heavy snowplow, weighing 14,330 pounds, ran over him. He was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center, underwent surgery, and remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit. On January 17, he was discharged and returned home. Ten weeks later, he began walking with a cane, and doctors credited his survival to his health and fitness.

Fortunately, Renner seems to have fully recovered. He recently expressed feeling strong enough to return to the MCU and expressed immense gratitude to his co-stars and fans for their unwavering support, which provided him with the mental strength to persevere.

In an exclusive interview with The Direct’s Russ Milheim, “Mayor of Kingstown” actor Michael Beach disclosed that his co-star Jeremy Renner had a near-death experience following his snowplow incident. Renner’s heart actually stopped beating, constituting clinical death.

“Jeremy [Renner] is a war horse, man. I mean that guy, you know, he broke 38 bones. He actually died, which I didn’t know until he told me, and he’s been coming back. And he says he wasn’t sure how it would be. But he was ready. And he says every week, he feels stronger and stronger. And there’s been no interruption because of his physical abilities or not. He’s in it doing it. He’s great. Yeah, he’s a great guy, man. And he’s really as tough as nails.”

This is undeniably frightening, adding an extra layer of impressiveness to Renner’s recovery.

While there are numerous MCU projects either in development or rumored, none currently feature Hawkeye in a standalone role. However, there is ample opportunity for his return in projects like ‘Avengers 5,’ ‘Avengers Secret Wars,’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ With the introduction of Kate Bishop in the upcoming ‘Young Avengers,’ we may see Hawkeye assume a mentor role once again. Regardless, we hope he receives the call and is truly prepared.
