Jujutsu Kaisen: Here’s Why Yuta Always Looks So Tired!
We have already written many times about Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Yuta Okkotsu here on Fiction Horizon, and it makes sense that the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and the original protagonist of the whole series (as envisioned by Akutami before Yuji was created) is so popular. This article will also be about Yuta, but it will explore one intriguing aspect of the character’s story – namely, his appearance. You might have noticed that Yuta Okkotsu always looks tired and exhausted, and in this article, we are going to tell you more about it, as you will find out why exactly he has such an appearance.
Yuta Okkotsu always looks tired because he has been under a lot of stress since his childhood
Yuta Okkotsu will now become even more popular as he finally debuted in the main Jujutsu Kaisen anime. But, while those who’ve seen/read Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will know about Yuta and his story, new fans might be surprised by Yuta’s appearance. As you could’ve seen, the boy looked exhausted and his whole appearance gave off the air of someone who just wants to and needs to get a good night’s sleep. But, spoiler alert, this is what Yuta always looks like, and in order to explain why that is, we have to go back to his past.
As major fans of the series will know, the cursed spirit of Rika Orimoto initially accompanied Yuta ever since childhood. Yuta seemed to be plagued by this special-level curse, which followed him around after the actual Rika perished in an automobile accident. Gojo took on Yuta’s case and enrolled him in the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, where he made friends with Toge, Maki, and Panda. Suguru Geto immediately set his sights on him because of his extraordinary abilities and Rika’s strength. He intended to take Rika away from him and use her to fulfill his greatest ambition. He ultimately lost, but it then turned out that Yuta was the one who actually cursed Rika, as he wanted the girl – whom he was in love with – to remain by his side regardless of her death.
After this, Yuta finally freed Rika, but a version of her lingered on and is still part of his offensive arsenal. Now, how is this related to Yuta’s appearance? Well, the presence of the original Rika caused Yuta a great deal of stress, as Rika would indiscriminately attack anyone who would hurt Yuta, and he had no way of controlling her. This led to a lot of people being hurt, which is not something that Yuta wanted. On top of that, he carried the burden of Rika’s death, and you can imagine how stressful that was for a young boy.
And while he did grasp the essence of his stress, he was unable to get rid of it, and life just gave him more with each new day. Sure, Yuta managed to learn how to cope with all that stress, but he was unable to eliminate it completely. So, while he is dealing with it properly, he is still under a lot of stress and has a lot he has to do. Based on that fact, you can assume that his body is not stress-free and that his permanently exhausted expression is a result of his being under a permanent state of stress.
