He then left in a very bad shape, leaving Yuji on the brink of death but still alive. What happened to Choso? Why did he spare Yuji? Keep reading our article, as you will find out all these answers for yourselves.
Why did Yuji lose to Choso? The answer to this question reveals the truth about Choso’s story…
In the series, Choso was first portrayed as a villain. He is the most humanoid, the eldest, and the leader of the three Cursed Womb: Death Paintings (1-3) that we have seen thus far in the series. Despite his intense devotion to his younger brothers, he is cold and harsh. Because he possesses Noritoshi Kamo’s technique, he has total control over his blood and can do whatever he wants. He has far greater access to it because he can generate blood directly from his cursed energy than Noritoshi did. At first, he joined Mahito’s group in Shibuya to get revenge for his younger brothers’ deaths.
And then it happened. While Itadori was going to Gojo’s location, Choso was passing by, and the two of them met. Seeing Itadori, Choso immediately went into the offensive, and one of the best clashes in the Shibuya Incident Arc began, with Choso immediately demonstrating his blood manipulation skills.
Itadori was hit with numerous blood-produced attacks, and while he managed to avoid most of them, Choso could still injure him severely. Because Choso could fight at larger distances and short ones, Yuji seemingly stood no chance against him, as he had no way of approaching and injuring the powerful opponent. But then Mechamaru reactivated himself and suggested Yuji flee to the toilet; he did so after explaining the nature of Choso’s power to Yuji.
Yuji then went to the toiler and completely smashed it so that it was full of water and just when Choso arrived, it turned out that Mechamaru’s plan was a good one, as the water dissolved Choso’s blood and he couldn’t say almost any of his techniques anymore. Yuji used this element of surprise to his advantage and attacked Choso, with the two of them exchanging punches and kicks all over.
Yuji managed to injure his opponent, but just as he thought he had won, Choso activated one last piece of blood he kept from getting wet and severely injured Itadori once again, which ultimately gave him an advantage, as he was able to defeat Itadori and was about to kill him. But then he stopped. He shot a punch at him, but he missed him intentionally. Why, all of a sudden? Well, keep reading to find out!
What happened to Choso in Jujutsu Kaisen?
So, just as he was about to kill Yuji, Choso had some visions, strange so-called memories, showing him and all of his siblings with Yuji, having fun, and with Yuji calling them his brothers. He was in a pretty bad state at the moment, looking like he would be sick or completely lose it. He went away from Yuji, leaving him in the toiler, alive, and disappeared.
So, what happened to him? Well, Choso realized that – due to Kenjaku’s machinations – he and Yuji were actually related, and since he was very protective of his siblings, he couldn’t hurt him anymore. Later, after realizing what a horrible villain Kenjaku was, he combined his brotherly feelings with his resentment and joined the protagonists, thereby switching sides.
