Jujutsu Kaisen: Who Is Kirara Hoshi? Meet the Androgynous Jujutsu Sorcerer!
Like the Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya Incident Arc, the Culling Game Arc (including its short prequel arcs) will also introduce us to a series of new characters, as well as expand the stories of currently known characters. Both these arcs were large and long, so it doesn’t surprise us that Akutami used them to introduce new characters to the lore. One of these characters is Kirara Hoshi, who has a very close relationship with Hakari. Kirara Hoshi has been intriguing fans ever since his debut, mostly because of their eccentric personality and appearance, and we are going to use this article to introduce the character to you.
Kirara Hoshi is an intriguing character whose appearance is even more intriguing
As Jujutsu Kaisen fans will know, Kirara Hoshi is one of those characters. There is nothing we can write here (but that won’t stop us, of course) that will give you a proper perception of Kirara Hoshi, as you simply have to see for yourselves. This is why we are going to do our best to motivate you to explore this character more, and we hope we’ll succeed.
Kirara Hoshi is a Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College third-year student. Kinji Hakari is presently Kirara’s assistant in the underground Gachinko Fight Club. Kirara is a slim boy with huge eyes that have a star-shaped pupil in each, thin eyebrows, and straight, dark hair that falls a little below the shoulders. There is also a streak of light color just above his right eye. Around his chin, there are four piercings: two in each of the corners of the lips and two more in the chin itself. They have a very androgynous appearance and while they are biologically male, we are going to refer to Kirara as “they”, based on the fact that their gender is not clear.

Wearing a black strappy crop top and another loose-fitting off-the-shoulder crop top, Kirara accessorizes their look with a studded choker and many bracelets on both wrists. They also sport baggy low-rise trousers with a white belt and dark closed-toe heels.
On more than one occasion, Kirara has demonstrated their devotion to Kinji; they find it fascinating and encouraging to witness his love and make every effort to safeguard it. This was evident when they immediately realized, when they saw Panda standing next to Megumi, that Yuji was with them, and their immediate instinct was to want to tell Kinji about their finding so that they could keep him safe. Furthermore, Kirara doesn’t appear to be able to let go of their lack of confidence in anyone connected to the School.
Kirara and Hakari are not antagonists, although it might seem so when you first meet them
Now, we have introduced you to Kirara in general, so we’re going to tell you a bit about their story. The final sentence of the previous section is important because Kirara’s mistrust towards anyone connected with the school is the reason why you might think that Kirara and Hakari, as well, are antagonists in the series. Namely, when the two of them first agree, they actually fight the protagonists.
Hakari fought against Yuji, whereas Kirara fought against Megumi. And while the battles were, indeed, thrilling and interesting, we are not going to spoil everything for you, although we will say that both Kirara and Hakari eventually listened to reason and joined the heroes, especially after the shocking revelation (to them) that Gojo had been sealed away in the Prison Realm. This is especially important in light of the fact that Gojo himself said that Hakari was one of the few characters who had the potential to surpass him in terms of powers and abilities.
At that point, Kirara and Hakari became allies of the heroes, although Kirara’s role became smaller as the Culling Game Arc progressed, and while we do know that they are still alive, their role in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc is quite small for now.
