Few animated franchises have captured audiences quite like ‘Frozen’. Since the original film debuted in 2013, Kristen Bell has voiced Anna, the spirited princess of Arendelle, alongside Idina Menzel’s Elsa, Jonathan Groff’s Kristoff, and Josh Gad’s Olaf. Now the beloved cast is hard at work on ‘Frozen 3’, which arrives in theaters on November 24, 2027.

Production has been steadily ramping up throughout the year. Work kicked off in February when Gad confirmed he had begun recording dialogue for Olaf, and in April, Bell shared photos from her own dialogue sessions alongside co-directors Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy and producer Christina Chen.

Now Bell has offered fans an exciting new glimpse behind the scenes. On Friday, October 23, she posted a video to her Instagram Stories showing herself in the recording studio, sharing what she called a sneak peek of the first song recording for ‘Frozen 3’.

The clip didn’t include any sound, so fans can’t hear the new music just yet. Still, Bell’s animated performance gave plenty away about her energy in the booth, as she followed along with a script while throwing her arms into the air and gesturing dramatically.

She even poked fun at herself in the caption, joking that Anna can’t actually fly and that this is simply how she moves when she sings. Bell has been documenting the film’s progress for months. In August, she shared her arrival at the Disney Animation Studios building in Burbank, California, accompanied by her dog Frank.

That same month, Disney’s D23 presentation brought Bell, Menzel and Gad back together on stage to preview new music and footage. Gad debuted a new song called ‘Ooooh, Samantha’, which introduces Olaf’s apparent crush.

The first look also teased wedding bells for Anna and Kristoff, along with a wardrobe refresh for Elsa. Earlier concept art by Britney Lee showed Elsa riding a white horse and Anna atop a brown stag.

Fans have good reason to be excited about the songs. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the songwriting duo behind the franchise’s music, are returning for both ‘Frozen 3’ and ‘Frozen 4’.

Jennifer Lee is also back to write and co-direct, this time alongside Trent Correy. Lee stepped away from her role as Disney Animation’s chief creative officer in 2024 to focus on writing and directing the next 2 films.

The franchise’s future extends beyond the third movie. Lee has said that some elements left unresolved in ‘Frozen II’ will be addressed across both upcoming installments, hinting at a larger connected story.

Bell has also shared what she believes makes ‘Frozen’ special, noting that it puts family love ahead of classic romance. That emphasis on the bond between Anna and Elsa is likely to remain at the heart of the new film.

Not every fan is thrilled about the franchise’s return. Some social media users have argued that the series should end, while many others have welcomed the chance to revisit Arendelle with the original cast. Either way, Bell’s enthusiasm is impossible to miss. With recording sessions underway and the creative team back in place, the countdown to the next chapter has officially begun.
