The last two MCU projects, Deadpool & Wolverine and Agatha All Along, introduced some exciting new characters to the MCU, including Deadpool and Lady Death. Aubrey Plaza’s portrayal of Lady Death has been fun and campy, and fans are eager to see more of her in future projects.

Given her comic relationship with Deadpool, Lady Death would be a great fit for his movie series, especially now that Thanos is gone from the MCU. Plaza’s version of the character feels quite different from Thanos’ portrayal of Lady Death, and many fans consider Death to be Deadpool’s true love, much like how Mary Jane is for Spider-Man or Lois Lane is for Superman. As an immortal, Deadpool faces many challenges in trying to be with Death.

Deadpool met Death while being tortured at Weapon X, and they fell in love. However, their relationship faced problems when Thanos, who was obsessed with Death, tried to take her from him.

To keep Deadpool from being with her, Thanos cursed him with immortality, making it impossible for him to die. Even though Deadpool tries to find a way around it, his healing powers keep him alive, and he can only see Death when he is near death, which causes tension between them.

Eventually, Thanos lifted the curse, allowing Deadpool to be with Death. However, by then, their relationship was strained, and they had broken up. Deadpool later married a succubus named Shiklah, but they grew apart, and she eventually married Dracula instead.

After the curse was lifted, Deadpool and Death never fully made up until Deadpool: The End. In this comic, Deadpool tries to find a way to kill Death to save his 97-year-old daughter, who is close to dying. However, his daughter has a different plan and brings a bomb that will kill them both so Deadpool doesn’t have to live without her. When the bomb goes off, Death appears behind them, placing her hands on their shoulders.

As is typical for Deadpool, the comic has multiple possible endings for fans to choose from. The main and most exciting ending shows Deadpool reconnecting with Death as he becomes the King of Hell, and they are finally together.

The MCU could take a different approach.

Since Thanos is no longer in the picture, the MCU could take a different approach that fits with Rio Vidal’s existing story in the cinematic universe. After Secret Wars and the rumored MCU reboot, Deadpool might be the only one who remembers what happened before the reboot, which could make him the focus of Lady Death.

In both the comics and the MCU, Deadpool is nearly immortal. We know how much he longed for death after Vanessa was taken from him, yet he could never die, no matter how extreme his attempts were.

In Agatha All Along, we learn that Lady Death wanted to kill Billy because his reincarnation was unnatural, and she was also after Agatha due to her unnaturally long life. We find out that the only way Billy can truly die is by his own choice, or else he will keep reincarnating, which messes with the natural order.

The MCU could easily set up a story where Death goes after Deadpool because of his unnatural immortality and his ability to break the fourth wall. With Vanessa no longer in the picture, as shown in Deadpool & Wolverine, Deadpool is no longer dating her, and she seems to have moved on to someone else.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Lady Death might be trying to kill Deadpool and take his soul, but he eventually wins her over by falling in love with her. Her humor and behavior match Deadpool’s style perfectly.

While Deadpool & Wolverine 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, recent rumors suggest the sequel is in early development or being talked about. We’re sure Lady Death will at least be mentioned, as she’s one of Deadpool’s most iconic relationships in the comics.
