LEGO’s Leaked ‘Dune’ Sandworm Set Is the Most Exciting Brick Build Arrakis Has Ever Seen

Few franchises in modern cinema have the kind of imagery that feels almost impossible to recreate in plastic bricks, and yet LEGO has never seemed deterred by the challenge. The world of ‘Dune’, with its sweeping desert vistas, towering Fremen warriors, and awe-inspiring creatures, has already proven to be fertile ground for the iconic toy company. Back in 2024, LEGO Icons launched set 10327, the Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter, a 1,369-piece build for adults based on the flying vehicle seen in Denis Villeneuve’s first two films. It was a hit with collectors and fans alike, but it was always going to leave one glaring absence on the shelf.

That absence is about to be addressed in the most spectacular way possible. Reliable LEGO leaker Brick Tap, operating through verified anonymous sources, has surfaced details on an upcoming LEGO Icons set that would bring Shai-Hulud itself to your shelf. The social media account ScreenTime was among the first to amplify the news, reporting the leak to its audience on X.

According to those leaked details, set number 11392 is a 1,837-piece Dune Sandworm priced at $140, with neither the set nor its details yet confirmed by LEGO. The set reportedly features one of the infamous, giant sandworms that Paul Atreides rides in the later course of Villeneuve’s film series, and is expected to land in the Icons lineup. For anyone who felt the Ornithopter was already an impressive display piece, the Sandworm promises to be an even more commanding presence on a shelf.

The value proposition here is notable too, as the Sandworm offers significantly more pieces per dollar than its predecessor, which launched at $165 for just 1,369 pieces. Whether the set will be a single model or a diorama, and whether it will include minifigures, has not yet emerged from the rumor mill. Given that the previous Dune set packed in eight film-accurate figures, including an impressively tall Baron Harkonnen, fans will be watching closely for any further leaks on that front.

The release date is reportedly January 1, 2027, and while that might seem like an unusual choice, it is actually standard LEGO practice, with New Year’s Day tending to be one of the company’s busiest days of the year for new releases. The timing also lines up beautifully with the theatrical calendar, as ‘Dune: Part Three’ is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, serving as the conclusion of Villeneuve’s trilogy. Anyone walking out of that film buzzing with Arrakis fever will have a brand new build waiting for them the moment the new year begins.

The third film is adapted from Frank Herbert’s 1969 sequel novel ‘Dune Messiah’ and is expected to be Villeneuve’s final installment in the franchise. The story is set 12 years after the events of ‘Part Two’, with a significant character shift for Paul Atreides at its center, and the film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, and Robert Pattinson. With that level of star power and a closing chapter mythology to match, the marketing ecosystem around the trilogy’s finale is going to be enormous, and a flagship LEGO set landing on day one of 2027 fits neatly into that momentum.

Whether you are a hardcore collector who displays every LEGO Icons release or a ‘Dune’ devotee who simply needs Shai-Hulud on their bookshelf, this is the kind of leak that makes the wait feel very real. What minifigures are you hoping LEGO includes when the Sandworm set is finally confirmed?
