Lego’s Next ‘Super Mario’ Wave Might Just Be Its Most Ambitious Yet

Lego’s Super Mario line has spent years reinventing how fans build out the Mushroom Kingdom, mixing interactive electronic bricks with iconic locations pulled straight from the games. That format has powered dozens of sets since the collaboration launched, but Nintendo and Lego have been quietly signaling a bigger shift is coming. Back in March, the two companies teased a redesigned direction for the theme without giving fans many specifics.

Anticipation has only grown since then, especially after Lego and Nintendo confirmed a move toward minifigure scale characters, a first for the Super Mario theme, months before any concrete details emerged.

Now a fresh wave of information is giving fans their clearest look yet at what’s coming. According to the ScreenTime account on X, eight new Lego Mario sets have leaked for January 2027, including a new Bowser’s Castle, a Yoshi build, and three separate Mario Kart sets. The leak reportedly traces back to Unibricks, a Lego-focused source that has become known for surfacing unannounced product details ahead of official reveals.

The full lineup spans a wide price range, from a modest $9.99 up to $99.99 for the flagship set. The cheapest of the bunch is Mario’s Pipe Jump at $9.99, followed by Mario Kart: Racing with Mario at $14.99 and Mario’s Beach Adventures at $19.99. From there, the pricing climbs through Mario Kart: Luigi & Bowser Jr.’s Karts at $29.99, Yoshi at Mario’s House at $39.99, and Mario Kart: Bowser’s Rumbling Kart at $59.99, before capping off with the biggest release of the wave.

That top tier set is Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle, reportedly coming in at $99.99, and early estimates suggest it could be the largest build in the collection by a wide margin. One report pegged the set’s piece count at roughly 850 pieces, working out to about 11.8 cents per piece, a relatively generous ratio for a licensed Lego release. Rounding out the list is Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle, also priced at $29.99.

What’s giving this particular leak extra weight is that it isn’t standing alone. Six of the eight set numbers reportedly line up with an earlier leak sourced separately, adding a layer of credibility to the new information. Every set across the lineup is said to include at least one minifigure, a detail that lines up with Lego and Nintendo’s confirmed pivot away from the theme’s current interactive figure format.

That older format isn’t sticking around much longer either. The interactive Super Mario figures currently sold under the theme are expected to retire by the end of 2026, which suggests the January 2027 wave could be positioned as a direct replacement rather than an expansion running alongside it. Several existing sets, including the current ‘Bowser’s Castle’ build, are also said to be heading toward retirement to make room.

None of this has been confirmed by Lego or Nintendo, and as always with unofficial leaks, set names, pricing, and piece counts could still shift before anything is made official. Still, the scale of the reported wave and the affordability of most entries have already sparked plenty of chatter online. With a new Bowser’s Castle, a Yoshi set, and a trio of Mario Kart builds all on the table, which one from this leaked Lego Mario lineup would you be first in line to build?
