Leslye Headland Has Heard “Nothing” About ‘The Acolyte’ Season 2, But Says That’s Not a Bad Thing: “You have to take a break”

Last week, the final episode of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, wrapping up the storylines and hinting at a promising future for the show with two major cameos.

Headland has already discussed the potential for a second season. Despite using all her ideas in season one, she has plans for the show’s continuation and hopes it will run for at least three or four seasons.

A few weeks ago, Headland mentioned that discussions about a potential second season were happening, but it was too early to decide. In her latest interview with Entertainment Weekly, the showrunner revealed that she hasn’t heard anything yet about continuing Mae’s and Osha’s story, but she doesn’t see this as a negative sign.

You have to take a break. Especially after something like this. I don’t even know how many years my brain has been going, Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Acolyte, Acolyte, Acolyte — just constantly solving problems, constantly thinking about it. It is very weird to now be in a place where I don’t need to do that. I always say to budding writers, ‘The most important thing that you can do is sit around and do nothing. Because the second you start to manufacture a story, you’re going to get stressed out, and the story can’t start that way.

Despite taking a break from writing and enjoying her downtime, Headland remains deeply engrossed in the storyline and continues to think of ways to further develop it.

My brain is still doing it,” she says, laughing. “It’s almost like if you’re running, you can’t just stop, can’t shut off.

Headland hinted that both Plagueis and Yoda would likely play larger roles in season 2, but it currently seems doubtful that ‘The Acolyte’ will reach that stage. The show is frequently compared to ‘Andor,’ with both having high production costs and relatively low viewership. However, ‘Andor’ was critically acclaimed and praised as one of the best Star Wars shows, while ‘The Acolyte’ did not achieve the same level of success. What are your thoughts?
