Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is a manga by Shinobu Ohtaka. It was published between June 2009 and October 2017 in Shōgakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine, and was compiled into a total of 37 volumes. A twenty-five episode anime television series adaptation by studio A-1 Pictures aired between October 2012 and March 2013. A second season named The Kingdom of Magic aired between October 2013 and March 2014. In this article, we are going to discuss a potential third season of Magi.

The third season of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic still hasn’t been confirmed yet. The first two seasons aired seven years ago and there haven’t been any additional works based on the finished manga, save for a spin-off series which is not the focus here. Because of that, the future of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is very uncertain and we cannot even speculate as to a possible revival of the show.

The rest of this article is going to bring you all the known and unknown information related to a potential season 3 of Magi: Labyrinth of Magic. You’re going to find out about its potential release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, and much more about this extremely popular new anime series.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic Season 3 release date

From 2012, animation studio A-1 Pictures created an anime adaptation of the work for Japanese television. It was directed by Koji Masunari, while Hiroyuki Yoshino wrote the concept and screenplay. The character design was made by Toshifumi Akai, and the art direction was made by Ayu Kawamoto and Taichi Maezuka.

The first season, consisting of twenty five 25-minute episodes, was shown on MBS and TBS afternoon programs from October 7, 2012 to March 31, 2013. The second season with the same number of episodes and the subtitle The Kingdom of Magic had its first airing from October 6, 2013 to March 30, 2014.

An English-subtitled simulcast was streamed on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The portal Anime on Demand made the series accessible via streaming. Five OVA and a 13-episode anime television series were released for the spin-off Magi: Sinbad no Bōken.

Everything we know about the show’s popularity points to Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic coming back at one point or another, but the issue is that it’s been years since we’ve had any news on the show and that is rarely a good thing in the world of anime (although it doesn’t necessarily have to be a death sentence, no). Still, due to the seven-year period that has passes we ultimately think that the future of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is more uncertain than not.

Taking all of this into account, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic‘s future seems very uncertain. The source work is, as we have said, quite popular, as was the anime series, but in all honestly, the fact that it’s been seven years since the last adaptation doesn’t make us hopeful. In any case, the earliest we could see a potential second season is 2024, but a more realistic scenario is either late 2024 or even 2025, if it even happens.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic Season 3 trailer

You now know all the facts and our thoughts related to Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic season 3, which means that you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the third season of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. This is because we do not know whether there will even be a third season of the show, which means that a trailer might not appear at all. Based on the time of the last adaptation, this doesn’t seem like an impossible outcome.

As we have said, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic could be revived at any moment, but based on how many years have passed, we cannot give you anything concrete. The finished manga still has more material up for adapting and the anime was quite popular at the time, but we have to wait and see whether there are actual plans for a continuation before we can make a proper prediction. Be that as it may, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is currently on a long hiatus (the anime) and we do not know if it will come back.

Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is unlikely to come out this year. The earliest we could see a trailer is 2023, but we would have to get confirmation of a second season sometime during 2022 for that to happen, and that does not seem likely at this moment.

Magi: Labyrinth of Magic Season 3 plot

At this moment, we do not know which parts of the finished manga series could be adapted in the potential Season 3 of Magi: Labyrinth of Magic. Namely, due to a lack of information in general, we have absolutely no clue how far the third season might go, if it even happens. The only thing we know for sure is that it will continue the adventure of the show’s protagonists. What follows is a general overview of the show’s plot.

The young trader Alibaba Saluja lives in a desert town and works for a rich merchant. He dreams of entering the tower in the middle of the city, a so-called “dungeon”, of passing its tests in order to become rich himself. The dungeons appeared all over this world some time ago, promising wealth and power to those who pass their trials.

When Aladdin, a magician in the form of a child, appears, he only causes trouble for Alibaba at first. But his Djinn Ugo, who lives in a flute and is summoned with it, and Aladdin’s magic help Alibaba, as does the slave Morgiana. Aladdin doesn’t see that people should be the slaves of others and tries to free them.

Eventually, Aladdin and Alibaba become friends and head into the dungeon together. Many traps are hidden in the dungeon, which the two of them can only overcome with skill and cleverness. Behind them, the ruler of the city has also entered the tower and has his entourage overcome the traps for him, leaving him alone.

Only Morgiana and one other slave are still with him. Aladdin and Alibaba are able to resist his deceptions and attacks and eventually pass all the tests. They finally reach the treasury, where the ruler of the city and his two slaves soon appear. The cruel regent orders his slaves to attack, but is soon surprised by the means Aladdin and Alibaba are using to defend themselves.

When it comes to a duel between Alibaba and the despot, Alibaba seems superior and he finds out that Alibaba is very good at palace fencing, which actually only high-ranking citizens are allowed to learn. After his victory, Alibaba receives great riches from the dungeon’s protector, the fire djinn Amon. This accompanies Alibaba from now on in the form of a dagger.

Just before the dungeon collapses, burying the ruler with his second slave, he remembers a prophecy that predicted the coming of a Magi. Alibaba, Morgiana and Aladdin escape. Back in the city, Alibaba buys Morgiana free, as well as all the other slaves in the city. Aladdin, however, ends up in the dungeon in a distant land. He gets into the fight of an old nomadic tribe against the mighty empire of Kou.

Its princess and commander Hakuei Ren wants to protect the tribe and unite the world peacefully – her advisor, however, wants to subdue and enslave the tribe. In this way he hopes to become ruler himself, and in doing so he plays the two parties off against each other with several intrigues. Aladdin can mediate, convince the tribe of Kou’s peacefulness, and help the princess by defeating her deputy together.

He also learns what it means to be a Magi. These can harness the power of rukh, butterfly-like creatures that transport and distribute the magoi, the basis of sorcery, in the form of magic. Furthermore, they choose king candidates with jinn vessels, in Aladdin’s case these are Alibaba and Amon for the time being, by summoning dungeons and mastering them with chosen people.

It doesn’t matter how many candidate kings a magi has or how many jinn vessels a human has. Hakuei Ren is also a dungeon slayer and wields the wind djinn Paimon. When peace is restored, Aladdin embarks on the journey to Alibaba. Meanwhile, Morgiana is trying to get to Balbadd with a caravan.

As a descendant of the Fanalis, a people who have superhuman strength and speed, she meets Aladdin after being enslaved again and the two travel together to Balbadd, where Alibaba is the leader of the criminal fog gang, which, following Robin Hood’s example, robs the rich to give what was stolen to people from the slums.

On their journey, Aladdin and Morgiana also meet the mysterious Sinbad, who suddenly stands in front of them, robbed down to the last shirt. When they arrive in Balbadd, it turns out that Sinbad is eagerly awaited there by his generals Ja’far and Masrur, another member of the Fanalis. Sinbad introduces himself as the ruler of Sindria, wielding seven Djinn vessels at once and commanding a vast armada of allied realms.
