They couldn’t even wait for the next show to air, and they already announced the spin-off. Echo – series starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, who will be introduced in Hawkeye is officially in development.
Hawkeye TV show was announced in July 2019 as one of the first Marvel Studios’ TV shows for Disney+. Jeremy Renner will return as Clint Barton, and Hailee Steinfeld will debut as Kate Bishop, who will take the mantle (bow and arrow) of Hawkeye for the future of MCU.
Hawkeye is set in post-blip New York City where Clint Barton aka Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with 22-year-old skilled archer Kate Bishop to unravel a criminal conspiracy. The series stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton and newcomer Alaqua Cox. Episodes are directed by executive producer Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert & Bertie; executive producer Jonathan Igla is head writer. The series premieres November 24, 2021. Alaqua Cox was cast as Maya Lopez aka Echo in December 2020. In March 2021, it was reported that her spin-off show is in development, and now Disney made the official announcement. Not much is known at the moment, but we’re pretty sure we’ll know more once she makes her debut in Hawkeye. Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen set to write and executive produce the spin-off.
Created by Jonathan Igla, and starring Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox, Hawkeye will debut on Disney+ on November 24. Less than two weeks to go!
