Marvel’s First Family Takes the Field in Fresh ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Look at the Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four have had quite the journey since arriving in the MCU. ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ introduced Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, as they battled Galactus and the Silver Surfer in a retro-futuristic, 1960s-inspired world. The film opened to $118 million domestically and $218 million globally in its first weekend.
It also set the stage for something much bigger. The mid-credits scene jumped 4 years ahead to show Sue reading to a toddler Franklin before Doctor Doom appeared, and a title card confirmed the team would return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
Now fans have a fresh look at the team in action. New images shared by ComicBook.com show Pascal’s Reed beaming in a light blue Fantastic Four uniform and a Brooklyn cap, waving to the crowd, while another shot reveals more of the team on the field in their matching colors.
The footage comes from Marvel’s special preview that aired during Game 1 of the World Series. It returns to Earth-828, where the Fantastic Four are attending a baseball game, with Reed pitching and Johnny Storm stepping up to bat. The Thing is also on hand for the festivities.

The setting is Ebbets Field, matching the time period of ‘First Steps’ with New York Giants players in the background. Modern MLB stars, including Freddie Freeman, Bryce Harper, and Randy Arozarena, watch from the sidelines.
The cheerful scene doesn’t last long. The tease is interrupted when Doctor Doom attacks from the sky, triggering a sequence of movie clips. Some fans believe these scenes take place when Doom arrives at the Baxter Building and confronts Sue.
That fits what Marvel has already revealed about Doom’s origins. Footage shown at San Diego Comic-Con confirmed that Doctor Doom originates from Earth-828, tying Robert Downey Jr.’s villain directly to the Fantastic Four’s home reality.

The team’s presence in ‘Doomsday’ is shaping up to be significant. In the film, the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and X-Men converge from different universes to face Doom. One trailer shows the Fantastic Four arriving at New Avengers Tower alongside Thor, seemingly picking up where the ‘Thunderbolts*’ post-credits scene left off.
Each member could have a standout moment. An earlier teaser showed The Thing meeting Shuri and M’Baku in Wakanda, a callback to the fact that Black Panther debuted in the pages of the Fantastic Four. Leaked ‘Marvel Snap’ cards also suggest pairings like Sue Storm with Namor and Reed Richards with Beast.

Sue’s arc may carry extra emotional weight. Kirby has suggested that Sue’s death and resurrection in ‘First Steps’, thanks to Franklin, will influence her character in ‘Doomsday’. One fan theory even suggests Johnny and Franklin could survive the film and play a major role in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, based on trailer shots of Johnny holding his nephew.
Not every fan loved the World Series spot. Some viewers felt it offered little new information beyond a few brief clips, while others enjoyed its playful tone and Easter eggs, including the implication that the Dodgers never left Brooklyn in the Fantastic Four’s universe.
