The cast of ‘Eternally Yours’ brings eight actors together for a family comedy about a vampire couple whose marriage has gone stale. The CBS series follows Charles and Liz, who have been together for 500 years and live in present-day Seattle with their oddball coven. It premiered on October 8 in the time slot that ‘Ghosts’ normally occupies.

The show comes from Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who also serve as executive producers and showrunners on ‘Ghosts’. Here is a look at each member of the ensemble, the character they play, and what the creators and cast have said so far.

Ed Weeks

Ed Weeks plays Charles, one half of the couple at the center of the series. Weeks is best known for playing Dr. Jeremy Reed on ‘The Mindy Project’.

Charles was a noble in the Middle Ages but is now a pencil pusher who moves his family every few years so no one notices they never age. He is cynical and looks down on modern life and the humans who live in it, which makes his daughter’s choice of a human boyfriend harder to accept.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Weeks revealed that Charles’ habit of clearing his throat was borrowed from Wiseman, according to Tell-Tale TV. The quirk is charming in the pilot’s opening scene but grates on Liz centuries later.

Allegra Edwards

Allegra Edwards plays Liz, Charles’ wife of five centuries. The pilot opens with the couple in a castle turret, confessing their love and sealing it with a bite.

Edwards recalled filming in a ball gown from the 1600s while Wiseman cleared his throat again and again so the crew could capture take after take. It is a small detail that shows how personal the writing is for the creators.

Port said Liz takes offense in the pilot at the assumption that she cannot touch garlic. Wiseman added that she and Charles will clash during a Halloween episode when they host her boss at home.

Helen J. Shen

Helen J. Shen plays Emma, the daughter of Charles and Liz. Emma has found a connection with a human, and that sets the main story in motion.

Shen described Emma and Max as two people willing to take a leap of faith with no safety net, and she sees their bond as a counterweight to her parents’ marriage. That contrast sits at the heart of the comedy.

Port teased that Emma’s vampire former boyfriend Iwin will resurface and that she has never dated anyone like Max before. In his words, she is giving a good guy a shot.

Jaren Lewison

Jaren Lewison plays Max, the ardent and human boyfriend of Emma. When Max learns the truth about Emma’s family, everyone’s life is turned upside down.

Lewison pointed to the gap in lived years and the adjustment of a household that has blood for dinner. He compared Max’s learning curve to any family absorbing another family’s culture and traditions.

Port said the pilot was written 11 years ago and did not get picked up at the time. Lewison and Shen would have been around 14 then, which Port credits for the cast that eventually came together.

Parker Young

Parker Young plays Jesse, a fellow member of the coven. Jesse is a fledgling with a love for fitness and spray tans, and eternal life has not stopped him from pursuing romance.

Young joked that the dynamic is fresh, since a man who looks younger is actually a couple hundred years older than the woman he loves.

Young acknowledged Jesse will probably have to tell his wife the truth soon, and Weeks added that he has to stop wiping her mind. Wiseman also promised an episode showing how Jesse became a vampire, and the story Jesse believes is not the real one.

Rose Abdoo

Rose Abdoo plays Phyllis, the human wife of Jesse. Her role gives the show a grounded counterpoint to the vampire storylines around her.

Jesse and a young Phyllis had a whirlwind relationship and went on to have two children together. Jesse wants to make the marriage work despite the complications of Phyllis growing older.

TV Insider describes the pairing of Jesse and Phyllis as an interesting couple who are stronger than they appear. The mind wiping question suggests that strength will be tested.

Tristan Michael Brown

Tristan Michael Brown plays Mort, one of the two sons of Jesse and Phyllis. The family is part of the coven, which is described as one big and somewhat happy vampire household.

Port has said the show is built around three relationships, and Jesse and Phyllis are one of them. Mort grows up at the center of that pairing, so what Jesse chooses to reveal affects him directly.

When Max learns the truth about Emma’s family, the upheaval reaches Jesse, Phyllis and their children. That puts Mort in the middle of the fallout.

Shylo Molina

Shylo Molina plays Henry, the other son of Jesse and Phyllis. Henry and Mort round out the coven alongside their parents.

Molina is known for the Netflix thriller ‘Deadly Illusions’ and for recurring roles on ‘The Really Loud House’ and ‘The Afterparty’. The actor was born in Albuquerque and has stage credits that include ‘Matilda’ and ‘Peter Pan’.

The series has not been renewed for a second season yet. With a coven this tangled and a promised Halloween episode ahead, which of these vampire households do you hope ‘Eternally Yours’ lets us know best, and should Jesse finally tell Phyllis the truth?
