Michael Keaton Confirmed To Reprise The Role Of Batman In HBOMax’s Batgirl Movie

Earlier today, it was reported that Michael Keaton will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in an upcoming movie Batgirl which is currently in production and set to be released next year exclusively on HBOMax. Now, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news, as well as movie’s main star Leslie Grace on her Twitter account.
Michael Keaton debuted as Batman in Tim Burton’s 1989 movie Batman. He reprised the role in the sequel Batman Returns. Both movies received acclaim from critics and audiences and many fans still consider Keaton to be the best live-action Batman ever.
Michael Keaton was announced to return as Batman in the upcoming movie The Flash, which is set to hit theaters next November. And, whatever Multiverse trick this movie pulls, it seems like it will turn Keaton into the main Batman of DCEU. Because Keaton will also be Batman in the upcoming movie Batgirl, which is confirmed to also be set in DCEU. Keaton isn’t the only big name returning for this film. J.K. Simmons confirmed his return as Commissioner Jim Gordon, the role he played in the 2017 movie Justice League and its director’s cut Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which was released in March 2021.
Now, Keaton will be Batman, Simmons will be Gordon, and that’s confusing. In Keaton’s Batman movie, Gordon was played by late Pat Hingle, and Simmons played Gordon in movies where the Caped Crusader was played by Ben Affleck, who is also set to return in The Flash. Simmons was also set to star as Gordon in the Batman movie starring Ben Affleck, a movie that never happened, unfortunately. What kind of Multiverse reshuffling WB and DC are doing on the DCEU, we have absolutely no idea, but we are looking forward to seeing it. Surprise us, WB.
The Batgirl movie will follow Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon’s daughter who will become a famous Gotham’s heroine in the first-ever live-action movie about the character. Leslie Grace is starring in the main role. Brendan Fraser is also starring as the villain known as Firefly.
Written by Christina Hodson, who wrote DC movies Birds of Prey and The Flash, and directed by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the Batgirl movie is currently in production, with no specific release date set. The movie will be released exclusively on HBOMax.
