‘Michael’ Star Laura Harrier Proves the Little Black Dress Never Goes Out of Style in Chic New Photos
Laura Harrier has quietly become one of Hollywood’s most dependable style stars. The actress, who first broke out in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and later starred in ‘BlacKkKlansman’, has built a reputation for looks that feel polished without ever trying too hard. Her latest Laura Harrier photos are a perfect example of that effortless approach.
Her fashion credentials were on full display earlier this year. At the Met Gala, where the theme was “Costume Art,” she arrived in a draped, nude-colored gown by Di Petsa for ShopMy, which was hailed as one of the best looks of the night.
On October 1, entertainment outlets and fan accounts shared newly posted images of the actress on X. Harrier wears a black off-the-shoulder mini dress with ruffled tiers, paired with sheer black tights and pointed black slingback heels.
The settings add to the drama. In one of the photos, she poses against warm, glossy wood paneling, glancing over her shoulder with her long dark hair falling down her back. Another photo captures her seated on a white marble staircase with her legs crossed, now adding a pair of slim black sunglasses for an extra dose of attitude.

The look lines up neatly with how Harrier has described her own taste. Speaking to InStyle earlier this year, she named Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy as a major style inspiration, along with Diana Ross, Grace Jones, and ’90s supermodels like Naomi and Kate.
She also described her personal style as effortless and chic, explaining that she likes outfits to feel both put together and undone at the same time. The ruffled black dress hits that balance well, pairing a romantic silhouette with minimalist accessories.
Harrier’s fashion moments come during a busy stretch for her career. She plays Suzanne de Passe in ‘Michael’, the Michael Jackson biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, which hit theaters on April 24. De Passe was a pioneering Motown executive who played a key role in launching the Jackson 5’s career.
The film has had a complicated reception. It holds a 39% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, yet it has proven popular with audiences, rising to the No. 1 spot on PVOD after its digital release. The movie follows Jackson’s life from 1966 to 1988, ending with his first solo tour. Harrier also covered S Magazine’s Spring 2026 issue, where she discussed her role in ‘Michael’, her love of fashion, and choosing joy.
There’s more on the horizon, too. Harrier is set to star in ‘The Technique’, a psychological thriller marking the feature directorial debut of ‘Hemlock Grove’ creator Brian McGreevy. She’ll appear alongside Emma Roberts, Kelsey Asbille, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Ben Platt, and Noomi Rapace.

Her recent credits also include Ryan Murphy’s ABC drama ‘Doctor Odyssey’, the ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ reboot, and Hulu’s ‘Mike’. Born in Chicago, the 36-year-old began her career in modeling before studying acting at the William Esper Studio, graduating in 2015. Between her steady stream of projects and her consistently strong red carpet presence, Harrier continues to prove she’s a force both on and off screen.
