Before the Disney+ shows, Netflix was the home of the Defenders Saga, featuring several street-level superheroes. Among these was “Luke Cage,” which ran for two seasons and gained considerable popularity, thanks to Mike Colter’s portrayal of the titular character.

Despite its success, “Luke Cage” was canceled after two seasons. The cancellation was attributed to creative differences and Marvel Television’s strategic shift to move its properties away from Netflix.

With the release of ‘Echo,’ the Defenders Saga has been officially integrated into the mainline MCU. Anticipation is high that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will reference many of the former Netflix shows, and fans are eagerly hoping for some of these series to continue on Disney+. Krysten Ritter has expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her role as Jessica Jones, but what about Luke Cage? Mike Colter, the actor behind Luke Cage, has expressed a more reserved interest. While his career and life have moved on from the character, he mentioned in an interview with ComicBook that he would consider returning if it made sense and the story was compelling.

Only if it doesn’t affect my schedule in a way that I can’t do another season of Evil. I mean, I would totally entertain a good script and idea that made sense. I don’t stay up at night thinking about it, nor do I recall it unless someone brings it up. But I enjoyed my time. I don’t look in the past. If something comes up, great, we’ll talk about it. But right now, I’m [past it].

Colter also acknowledged that he is open to the possibility of the role being recast.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will “re-introduce” much of the former Netflix show’s cast into the MCU. While Colter’s return isn’t certain, there’s a chance we might see him again as Luke Cage.
