Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has already crossed into the world of sports, and now a familiar face from baseball media is adding fuel to the hype. With the film arriving on December 18, Marvel Studios has rolled out 4 main teaser trailers, a full trailer, and a special look, and the next piece of footage is set to debut during one of the biggest broadcasts of the year. The preview airs during Game 1 of the World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, October 23, at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

MLB went all in on the promotion, recruiting several of its biggest names for the announcement. Bryce Harper, Jacob Misiorowski, Freddie Freeman, Randy Arozarena, and Junior Caminero all appeared in the teaser, which hyped an exclusive preview of the film. Marvel hasn’t confirmed what format the footage will take, but many fans suspect it could be an extended scene rather than a traditional trailer.

That’s where Kait Maniscalco comes in. The MLB Network host and creator of Baseball for Baddies teased the upcoming special look by revealing she was actually on set when the scene was shot. “One of the most surreal experiences that I have ever had was actually getting to be on set during Avengers Doomsday when they filmed an iconic baseball scene,” Maniscalco said in a video she shared on social media.

It’s a fitting connection for someone who has built her career around the sport. Maniscalco grew up a Yankees fan and broke through when a whiteboard video explaining baseball went viral on TikTok. She has since interviewed MLB players, covered the World Series, and built a following of 149,000 on Instagram, where she describes herself as incredibly passionate about baseball.

Her comments line up with chatter that has circulated since cameras were rolling. During production, insider Daniel Richtman reported that Marvel was filming scenes set during a baseball game on the Fantastic Four’s Earth, along with sequences set in The Void. Filming officially began in April 2025, with Kevin Feige confirming the start date, and reportedly wrapped after 5 months of shooting.

The leading theory is that the World Series footage will spotlight that very sequence. Rumors have long pointed to Ben Grimm, the Human Torch, and Steve Rogers all being in attendance at the game. Murphy’s Multiverse reports the scene may feature Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm on their retro-futuristic Earth-828, and that it was reportedly shot with the intention of serving as a post-credits stinger for ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’.

Marvel itself seems to be leaning into the baseball angle. The official Fantastic Four Instagram account recently shared a new promo poster with a caption joking that for the team’s heroes, nothing is more intimidating than stepping up to the plate. That playful tease has only convinced more fans that the ballpark scene is exactly what Friday’s broadcast will deliver.

If the theory holds, it would give audiences a rare glimpse of Marvel’s heroes enjoying a quiet moment outside of battle. Given the scale of the story, where heroes from 3 distinct universes collide against an existential threat, a lighthearted sequence at a ballgame could offer a welcome breather before things turn darker.

Fans planning to tune in should be prepared for a wait. There’s currently no word on when exactly during the broadcast the sneak peek will air, so viewers may need to settle in for a few innings. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ hits theaters on December 18.

Do you think Marvel will reveal the long-rumored Fantastic Four baseball scene in tonight’s Avengers: Doomsday preview?
