Moorhead Teases Foggy Twist in Daredevil: Born Again: “Eagle-Eyed Geniuses” May Be Onto Something

Fans of Daredevil: Born Again are still reeling from the emotional first episode, which features the shocking death of Foggy Nelson. But not everyone is convinced he’s really gone. A growing fan theory suggests that Foggy may have faked his death, just like in the comics, and the clues might be right in front of us.
In the show, Matt Murdock’s best friend and law partner, Foggy Nelson, dies off-screen in the original version of the series. But when Marvel revamped the show, directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead made the tough call to show his death on-screen instead.
“We were looking at Elden, and we started to think, ‘What right do we have [to kill Foggy]?’” Moorhead told The Hollywood Reporter. “But he gave us his blessing as long as we took it very seriously.”
Still, some fans aren’t buying it. They noticed a very specific number in the show, 468, on the building next to the Nelson, Murdock & Page law office. That number lines up with a Daredevil comic where Foggy fakes his death, The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson.
This sparked a major theory: Is Foggy really dead? Or is Marvel planning a surprise twist later?
When asked about it, Moorhead played it cool. “I’ve heard this theory, you eagle-eyed geniuses,” he said. “I would love to tell you, however, Marvel will snipe me if I say anything else.”
Moorhead further added: “Daredevil being a street-level superhero is that, generally, the supernatural doesn’t really interact with this universe as much, even though it is within the MCU. So that often gives much stronger consequences where punches hurt more and blood means more and getting hurt means more and dying very often does mean that you’re actually dead. But that’s all I can say.”
That kind of response only fuels the speculation. Fans think it might be a subtle clue planted on purpose. After all, Marvel is known for hiding Easter eggs throughout its shows and movies.
Still, Moorhead reminded fans that Daredevil tends to stick to more grounded, real-world consequences.
So, is Foggy really gone? Or is Marvel setting us up for an emotional comeback later in Season 2 or beyond?
