Ms. Marvel: New Promo Art Shows New Look At Titular Hero And How Her Powers Will Differ From Comics
Marvel’s Disney+ show Ms. Marvel will premiere next year and it will introduce Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in Marvel Cinematic Universe before she joins Brie Larson and WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris in The Marvels movie, previously titled Captain Marvel 2.
In the new promo art, we can see a new look at Kamala Harris, a 16-year-old girl and a huge fan of Captain Marvel who will gain shape-shifting powers. The promo art also shows how her powers will seemingly differ from her comic book incarnation.
Although Ms. Marvel is described as a superhero with powers similar to Mr. Fantastic, which can be seen in the cover image of this article, this promo art seemingly shows how her powers in the show will be more similar to Green Lantern’s, showing how enlarged fist, her signature move, is actually a fist-shaped construct. We don’t know how will they explain that in the show, but we’re looking forward to it.
“It’s interesting, and something we thought about and worked through a lot, which was how do we get each of these really big, exciting heroes space in a two-hour film. Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have her Ms. Marvel show, and Monica Rambeau, we’ve only seen her a little bit in WandaVision. A lot of what we’ve been thinking about is what part of the journey do we need to see for each of them? How do we honor the part of the story they’re at in terms of the canon, while also within our story making them equal?”
