‘Waller’ was confirmed for development in 2022 as a spinoff of ‘Peacemaker’, with Viola Davis returning as the lead character. Recent updates indicate that the show will have a serious tone, in contrast to the comedic approach of ‘Peacemaker’, reflecting Waller’s character.
Originally slated for release in 2024, delays are expected due to director James Gunn’s focus on other DCU projects. While some sources still mention a 2024 release, 2025 seems more likely.
New additions to the official IMDb page reveal stunt doubles, offering hints about the characters we can expect in the show, though details about the plot remain scarce.
Greg Fitzpatrick will double for Frank Grillo, Nhut Le will portray Vigilante as a stunt actor, Cali Nelle will stand in for Djimon Hounsou, Christopher Tardieu will serve as Sebastian Faust’s double, and Nico Woulard will double for Corey Hawkins.
The name “Vigilante” refers to two characters in the DC Universe. The first was Greg Sanders, a heroic figure in the Old West who fought alongside his sidekick Stuff, the Chinatown Kid. He was a member of the All-Star Squadron and the Seven Soldiers of Victory.
Adrian Chase, also known as the second Vigilante, was a lawyer who became a deadly anti-hero disillusioned with the justice system after his family’s killers escaped punishment. His actions inspired others to become Vigilantes after his death, and he had associations with Checkmate and the Teen Titans.
Sebastian Faust, known as Faust, inherited his father’s powerful magic abilities but struggled to distance himself from his father’s evil deeds. Complicating matters, his soul was bargained away to a demon by his father. Both characters are set to appear in a single episode, though the roles of the confirmed actors remain undisclosed for now.
