New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast Art Brings the Multiverse’s Biggest Heroes Together

Marvel Studios has been steadily ramping up the marketing for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as its December release draws closer. Over the past few weeks alone, the studio has rolled out a striking poster spotlighting the Latverian Witches, an all-female poster featuring Yelena Belova and Sue Storm, and a wave of comic book-style promotional art.

The campaign has leaned heavily on Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Earlier promo pieces even depicted his kingdom of Latveria with propaganda-style banners promising beauty and order, alongside a warning that visitors attempting to cross its borders would be disintegrated.

Now, fans have another sweeping look at the heroes standing against him. A new image showcasing the cast of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has been shared online, bringing together characters from across the Marvel multiverse in a single dramatic battle scene.

Thor stands front and center, while Sam Wilson charges forward with Captain America’s shield. Professor X sits calmly in his wheelchair at the front, and Cyclops unleashes a blazing optic blast from the back of the group.

Shuri’s Black Panther crouches in a fighting stance as Sue Storm’s powers crackle nearby. Explosions, debris, and swirling energy fill the background, capturing the scale of the conflict to come.

The film follows beloved heroes from 3 distinct universes as they are set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. The Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers and X-Men all unite to take on Doctor Doom.

Back in July, former Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shared concept art that offered the clearest official look yet at the team-up. He revealed that ‘Doomsday’ was the final full film he led before leaving the studio.

That artwork organized the cast into groups. Steve Rogers and Thor stood alongside the New Avengers, including Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Ghost, U.S. Agent, Sentry, Winter Soldier and Ant-Man.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach return as the Fantastic Four. The ‘Thunderbolts*’ cast, including Florence Pugh and David Harbour, is also back.

The film additionally brings back Fox-era X-Men characters such as Professor X, Cyclops, Beast, Gambit and Mystique. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor, now back to the warrior mindset last seen in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’, direct the film. It is the 39th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and part of Phase Six. The sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, is scheduled for December 17, 2027. Together, the 2 films are set to bring the Multiverse Saga to a close.

Excitement for the film is clearly running high. Domestic presales crossed $50 million more than 3 months ahead of release, with over 70% of those sales going to Disney’s premium Infinity Vision screens.

Disney created Infinity Vision partly because ‘Dune: Part Three’ has secured IMAX screens for its release on the same day. The format covers premium screens like Dolby Cinema, Cinemark XD and Regal RPX.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ opens exclusively in theaters on December 18. With fresh promotional material arriving almost daily, Marvel appears determined to make the film one of the biggest events of the year.

The new cast image offers a thrilling preview of the crossover fans have been waiting for. Seeing so many heroes from different eras side by side makes it clear that Marvel is going all in.
