New ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Teaser Offers Fresh Look at Galactus and Franklin Richards
A new teaser for Fantastic Four: First Steps has given fans a fresh look at some key characters, especially the cosmic villain Galactus and the young Franklin Richards. This upcoming Marvel Studios film will be the first Fantastic Four movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe MCU and is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
The story takes place on a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic Earth, where the Fantastic Four face the enormous threat of Galactus. Galactus is a cosmic being who eats planets to survive, and in this film, he’s shown as a huge (star-sized) and powerful figure.
Actor Ralph Ineson plays Galactus and describes him as a “humongous, 14-billion-year-old, planet-devouring cosmic vampire.” Unlike previous versions of Galactus, this film uses a comic-accurate design, with Ineson actually wearing armor to bring the character to life. Director Matt Shakman wanted someone physically present for the role, which adds a unique feel compared to earlier movies where Galactus was more like a cloud.
On the other side, Franklin Richards is the infant son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Though he is just a baby in this film, Franklin is important in the comics as a character with incredible powers. An infant actor plays Franklin here, and his role hints at bigger things to come in future films.
The Fantastic Four themselves are led by Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal, who is described as extremely intelligent, a mix of Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, and Robert Moses. Sue Storm, played by Vanessa Kirby, is Reed’s pregnant wife and the emotional heart of the team. The other team members include Ben Grimm, known as The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm, the Human Torch (Joseph Quinn)
What sets this film apart is that it doesn’t focus on the usual origin story. Instead, it jumps right into their lives and the challenges they face, especially with a massive threat like Galactus looming over their world.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has expressed excitement about bringing the Fantastic Four into the MCU properly, and the teaser shows how big the stakes will be. With Galactus threatening to destroy planets and Franklin Richards being introduced, it’s clear that this film will mix cosmic danger with family drama.

Ineson shared his thoughts on playing Galactus, saying he doesn’t see the character as evil but more like a “god of sorts” doing what he must to survive. This makes Galactus a complex villain rather than just a simple bad guy.
The film also features Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, Galactus’s herald, adding more cosmic elements to the story. Together, these characters promise a mix of action, science fiction, and emotional moments.
Fantastic Four: First Steps aims to kick off Phase Six of the MCU with a fresh and exciting take on Marvel’s first family. The film promises to bring a mix of retro style, cosmic threats, and personal stories that will expand the Marvel universe in new ways.
From what we’ve seen so far, the movie looks like it will offer an intense and emotional adventure, especially with Galactus’s looming presence and the introduction of Franklin Richards.
