New Reports Reveal Knull as the Likely Main Villain in ‘Spider-Man 4’
The final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance has just dropped, and it’s got fans even more excited for the October release. The trailer offers a first glimpse of Knull, the King in Black, who’s set to make his big-screen debut.
Knull is renowned in Marvel Comics as one of the most formidable and fearsome villains, and now he’s coming to captivate audiences on film.
Naturally, fans have had mixed reactions to the reveal, largely due to Sony’s inconsistent track record with the Spider-Man Universe and their portrayal of Marvel characters. Many believe that a villain as formidable as Knull needs more build-up before making his debut. While the Hive has been referenced in previous Venom films, Knull himself has never been mentioned.
Knull’s immense power—surpassing that of Thanos—raises concerns that he might be quickly disposed of in a single film. Thanos, after all, was given an entire saga to develop. There’s hope that either Knull will be significantly toned down, or The Last Dance will not be his sole appearance. Recent reports suggest the latter.
Alex Perez of Cosmic Circus, known for reliable insights, has confirmed that Knull’s role extends beyond this film. In April 2024, Perez verified rumors about Knull appearing in Venom: The Last Dance but shared concerns about the portrayal, fearing it might not do justice to the comic book version. However, Perez has assured that Knull will appear in future projects.
Initially, Marvel Studios planned a street-level Spider-Man film featuring Daredevil and various villains, but this project has been delayed in favor of a larger multiversal event. Recent reports hint that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man might team up with Tom Hardy’s Venom in this upcoming film. Venom: The Last Dance could set up this crossover, with Knull potentially emerging as the villain threatening the multiverse, partly due to the Venom symbiote’s influence across different universes.
We’ve previously explored how The Last Dance might connect to Spider-Man 4, and it seems like it’s going to be done through the post-credit scenes.
