Nicholas Galitzine Nearly Secured a Key Role in the Fantastic Four Before It Went to His Friend
‘Fantastic Four’ is highly anticipated in the MCU, partly because it marks the team’s debut in the universe and partly because the previous movies didn’t fare well. The reboot was confirmed during Disney’s acquisition of Fox, but details were scarce until a few months ago.
The cast announcement caused a stir online. Pedro Pascal will portray Reed Richards, while Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will take on the roles of The Thing and the Human Torch respectively.
Even though the cast for the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ movie is now officially confirmed, we’re just learning about some of the actors who were considered for the iconic Marvel superhero roles. Nicholas Galitzine, in a conversation with Variety, revealed that he was in discussions to play Johnny Storm before the role was ultimately given to his friend Joseph Quinn. Galitzine was aware of this beforehand due to his friendship with Quinn. However, rumors about Galitzine’s potential involvement in the Marvel project became so widespread that he had to seek reassurance from his team.
I was like, ‘Guys, I’m sure it’s not true, but I have to make certain it’s not true. And they go, ‘Yeah, it’s not true.
Although Nicholas won’t be appearing in the MCU anytime soon, his career is thriving this year. Galitzine recently played George Villiers in the SkyTV historical psychodrama series ‘Mary & George,’ alongside Julianne Moore. The 7-episode series debuted on SkyTV in the UK and Binge in Australia on March 5, 2024, and will be available for streaming on Starz in the US on April 5, 2024.
Moreover, he stars alongside Anne Hathaway in the film ‘The Idea of You,’ adapted from the book with the same title. In the movie, he portrays a member of a fictional boy band who develops a romantic relationship with Hathaway’s character. The film will be accessible for streaming globally on Amazon Prime on May 2, 2024.
