Nicholas Galitzine Reveals Extreme Fitness Journey for He-Man in ‘Masters of the Universe’
Nicholas Galitzine has spoken about the intense physical preparation he went through for his role as He-Man in Masters of the Universe. The actor plays Prince Adam, who transforms into the legendary hero of Eternia, and his appearance in the film required a major body change.
To get ready for the role, Galitzine focused heavily on training and building muscle over a long period of time. He worked under celebrity fitness trainer David Kingsbury, who has also trained actors like Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth, and Ryan Reynolds for demanding action roles.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Galitzine explained how challenging the process was. He said it pushed him both physically and mentally, and required full-time commitment over several months. He described it as a long and difficult experience that tested his limits, but also said he was satisfied with the result.
He shared, “Truthfully, I feel like I learned a lot about myself and how far I was willing to push myself and really suffering for it. And it took a really, really long time. It’s really not for the faint of heart. This is something that you need to do full-time for six months minimum, but I’m really happy.”
He also spoke about how unusual the filming experience felt during production. At times, he was in full He-Man costume while others around him were dressed for normal weather conditions. He said the transformation was something very personal, especially as he could see the changes in his body every day during filming.
Galitzine added that the full impact of his transformation became clearer when people who had not seen him in months reacted to his new appearance. Their reactions helped him understand just how much he had changed over time.
Producer Jason Blumenthal praised the actor’s dedication, saying the transformation was completely real and achieved without shortcuts. He stressed that Galitzine committed fully to the process and trained consistently throughout production.
Director Travis Knight also commented on the change, saying he was shocked when he saw Galitzine again after training. He noted that the difference in his physique was so strong that comparing earlier photos made him look like a completely different person.
The film Masters of the Universe is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 5, 2026.
This kind of transformation shows how demanding modern action roles have become. It also raises the pressure on actors to physically change their bodies for certain characters.
