Few rising stars have had a year quite like Inde Navarrette. The 25-year-old actress went from a familiar face to a bona fide breakout this year thanks to ‘Obsession’, and her fashion profile has been climbing right alongside her box office success.

The horror romance from YouTuber-turned-filmmaker Curry Barker was made for just $750,000 in 20 days, picked up by Focus Features for more than $15 million after a bidding war out of TIFF, and released on May 15. It went on to gross $519 million worldwide, becoming Focus’ highest-grossing release ever and the fifth highest-grossing horror film of all time, unadjusted for inflation.

Now Navarrette is taking that momentum into the fashion world. The actress fronts the October issue of Cosmopolitan France, and new images from the shoot, photographed by Nas Nixx Hexxin, have been making the rounds online, revealing a dreamy, slightly unsettling editorial that feels tailor-made for horror’s newest star.

The fashion story places romantic clothes inside deliberately strange compositions. In one standout shot, Navarrette lies on a teal carpet with her long dark hair fanned out around her, wearing a white corset top and a striped mini skirt while holding a small red jar in one hand.

The styling mixes Miaou corsetry, Dôen lace, and Jimmy Choo boots. A second setup shifts from structured corsetry to something softer, with a close-up of Navarrette in a cream top with magenta trim, framed against an ornate building.

The cover itself goes in a bolder direction. Fans have praised how her black dress pops against a gold backdrop, giving the issue a dramatic, glamorous finish. The feature goes beyond the pictures. In the accompanying interview, Navarrette discusses horror, gaming and what it’s like to become famous almost overnight.

It’s a fitting topic given how quickly her life has changed. Back in September, she and Barker returned to TIFF a year after the film’s premiere, with Barker describing the occasion as the 1-year anniversary of their lives changing.

The cover also isn’t her first Cosmopolitan moment this year. In June, she appeared in a Cosmopolitan shoot photographed by Rona Liana Ahdout, which drew hundreds of thousands of views on social media.

In ‘Obsession’, Navarrette plays Nikki Freeman opposite Michael Johnston’s Bear, a hopeless romantic whose wish to make his crush fall in love with him unleashes a sinister enchantment. Collider called her work one of the year’s best horror performances, arguing the film lives or dies on Nikki and that Navarrette delivers.

Barker has said that her very first take of Nikki’s emotional breakdown scene convinced the team they had found the right actress. Much of the character’s eerie body language was shaped through their collaboration, with Barker physically demonstrating movements during filming.

The film’s success was remarkable from the start. It opened to $17.2 million domestically, well ahead of its $8 million to $9 million forecast, and later strung together several weekends bigger than its debut.

Navarrette’s year shows no signs of slowing down. She recently stepped out for Dior during Paris Fashion Week, and Focus Features launched an awards campaign for her performance this fall.

She has also filmed a lead role in the horror film ‘Invertigo’, and she’s scheduled to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on October 31, with Gracie Abrams as musical guest. A Halloween hosting gig for one of horror’s biggest new stars feels like perfect timing.
