One MCU Star Claims He’s Even Worse Than Tom Holland at Leaking Secrets, Reveals He Was “Almost Fired” 36 Times
Fans of Frank Grillo are eagerly anticipating his upcoming role as Rick Flag Sr. in the DCU. However, before joining the “enemy camp,” Grillo made his mark as Crossbones in the MCU. The actor revealed that one unfortunate aspect of his time with Marvel was that he was “almost fired 36 times.”
In a recent interview with ComicBook about his new movie, Long Gone Heroes, Grillo admitted that he had to be cautious about what he says.
You know, unfortunately, there’s nothing I can really say that wouldn’t get me in trouble. So I kind of have to step back and go, ‘I take the fifth. I am so bad at this. Like, Marvel almost fired me 36 f—ing times because I don’t know. I never want to lie. And so, I do that a little too much. But I’ve been warned.
Fans quickly drew comparisons between Grillo and Tom Holland, as both actors have a history of accidentally spoiling major movie plot points through interviews and social media. Grillo revealed details about sequels, character deaths, and surprise appearances until he was paired with a “stage babysitter” in Benedict Cumberbatch to help keep him in check.
Regarding his new role in the DCU, Grillo expressed his enthusiasm for the work he’s doing, which is evident as he frequently shares updates from the set of Peacemaker on his social media. In addition to Creature Commandos and Peacemaker, he’s rumored to appear in the upcoming Superman, based on leaked set photos.
When asked if he would return to the MCU if given the chance, Grillo provided a thoughtful response.
I don’t know, at this point in my life, all the things that I thought were real and true, I’ve learned as a man who’s now matured, that if they ask me to do that, I would love to go back and do it. And I’m loving what I’m doing with DC.
I love James Gunn and Peter Safran and they’ve given me an amazing opportunity. But at this point, I’m happy about everything I’ve done and I’m certainly willing to…if they meet me, if there’s something great to go do, I would certainly be ready to go do that.
