Taylor Sheridan began as a working actor, whose probably biggest role was the character of David Hale during the first seasons of “Sons of Anarchy.” However, at some point, Sheridan saw no future, acted, and decided to go fully into his other passion, writing. The payoff has been massive, with Sheridan being nominated for an Oscar and having one of his movies, “Hell or High Water,” nominated for Best Picture. Since then, Sheridan has become a content machine, and his deal with Paramount keeps providing success after success. Let’s not talk about how much money there is in his Yellowstone Universe, which has become maybe the biggest TV property in current TV and streaming.

Now, Sheridan has a new show called “Special Ops: Lioness,” and Paramount has released its first teaser as the advertisement campaign begins to create buzz over its release date next month. Special Ops: Lioness is a spy-thriller created by Taylor Sheridan and Jill Wagner and tells the story of a young marine who is recruited for a special mission. If she chooses to accept it, the mission is to befriend the daughter of a powerful terrorist leader. As you can imagine, the show will be filled with tons of tension, betrayal, and action. Sheridan’s shows have often been criticized for being a bit too tough and violent, but that also makes them stand out among the many other shows currently offered on streaming services.

The numbers don’t lie, and Sheridan’s brand has succeeded. Maybe the reason is that the content he makes often leans more toward the center when it comes to politics. Lately, there has been a lot of content that leans more toward the left regarding political and social values, which is great as many of those values are worth preserving. But too much of one thing can often be boring, so for those who don’t lean heavily towards the left or the right, Sheridan’s shows bring that sense of stability and certainty that many shows don’t have.

Sheridan’s success has also allowed him to bring big names to work on his shows, and “Special Ops: Lioness” is no exception. The cast is led by the powerful and always reliable Zoe Saldaña, coming off from her tenure as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy and her return to Pandora in Avatar: The Way of Water. Saldana is one of the most successful actresses ever, but here she takes center stage alongside Layla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, Michael Kelly, Martin Donovan, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman. With such an amazing cast, we can expect tons of cool things from this new Sheridan show.

“Special Ops: Lioness” will be released on Paramount+ on July 23, 2023.
