Paul Walter Hauser Was Reconsidering His Role in ‘Fantastic Four’ Film: “Movie Has Not Fully Been Nailed Just Yet”

The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot has generated significant buzz as one of the most anticipated projects currently in development. This film aims to revitalize the previously lackluster ‘Fantastic Four’ franchise, which received mixed reviews in its earlier iterations.

However, the timing of the movie’s release is somewhat precarious. Marvel Studios faces scrutiny due to a series of underwhelming projects in recent years, leading to waning fan interest. Unfortunately, this trend has also resulted in Disney setting unflattering records as the biggest box-office loser of 2023.

Paul Walter Hauser, who has been cast in an undisclosed role for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, recently shared his thoughts on the film’s development. He admitted that the past adaptations of Marvel’s First Family gave him pause before signing on. However, Hauser expressed confidence in the team assembled for this new iteration. The actor stated for The Hollywood Reported the following:

Don’t think that didn’t weigh in as I was deciding whether or not to take the job. That movie has not fully been nailed just yet. But I really do think the combination of the screenplay, and the department heads that are working on the film, and that classy cast of really exciting actors — some of them known for a long time, and some of them having a moment right now — [make me feel that] this movie is special, and it was something I wanted to be a part of. Matt Shakman directed me years ago in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. To come back together and collaborate on this movie in some capacity, it’s really exciting. I’m excited to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Paul recently expressed that there’s immense pressure on the ‘Fantastic Four’ team to deliver a successful movie, as is expected in the industry. However, the film has already sparked controversy, primarily due to the casting choices. Pedro Pascal taking on the role of Reed Richards and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer have raised eyebrows among fans.

The previous ‘Fantastic Four’ adaptations received mixed reviews, depending on who you ask. Now, this upcoming movie faces the challenge of surpassing those earlier versions. While I believe Marvel Studios will create a better film, it’s essential to acknowledge that fans are approaching it with cautious optimism

‘The Fantastic Four’ is slated for release on July 25, 2025. Filming is expected to commence in August 2024 at Pinewood Studios in London.
