A big change is happening as ‘Peacemaker’ moves from DCEU to the new DCU. Season 2 is in the works and will be part of DCU canon. Gunn assures fans the shift won’t be confusing and aims for a smooth transition between DCEU and DCU, especially for ‘Peacemaker’.

Now, Gunn takes it a step further by linking the forthcoming ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 with the much-anticipated animated project ‘Creature Commandos,’ set for release this year.

Frank Grillo has been chosen to portray Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, following his prior confirmation to voice the character in the animated series. This mirrors Gunn’s earlier statement during the DCU presentation, expressing his desire for voice actors to also appear in live-action roles.

Rick Flag Sr. was once the leader of the Suicide Squadron during WWII. This group, made up of criminals, was sent on perilous missions. Flag Sr. instilled discipline in them and led them successfully. After the war, he was chosen to lead Task Force X, a team handling superhuman and supernatural matters.

Frank Grillo is no stranger to superhero projects. He’s known for roles like Sergeant Leo Barnes in “The Purge: Anarchy” and its sequels, Brock Rumlow / Crossbones in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War,” and Big Daddy in “The Purge: Election Year.”

On TV, he’s been seen in series such as “Prison Break,” “The Gates,” and “Kingdom,” where he starred as Alvey Kulina. Grillo is also recognized for his portrayal of Billy Russo / Jigsaw in the Netflix series “Marvel’s The Punisher.”
