‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Trailer Sends Percy on a Desperate Rescue Mission as Olympus Hangs in the Balance

Disney+’s ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ has spent two seasons bringing Rick Riordan’s beloved demigod saga to the screen, sending Percy and his friends on epic quests across a world of gods and monsters. The next chapter goes after one of the most anticipated stories in the series.

The new season adapts ‘The Titan’s Curse’, the third novel in Riordan’s series, and this is the first time the book has been adapted for the screen. Fans first got a look at the new chapter in a teaser that premiered at D23 in August, which focused on Annabeth and what love means in a world of gods, humans, and monsters.

Disney+ has now released the official trailer for Season 3, and it raises the stakes considerably. The trailer debuted on November 2, and DiscussingFilm shared it with fans, along with a reminder that the new episodes arrive on November 20.

The footage teases a race to save Annabeth from the forces of Kronos, with new threats coming from several directions. One striking image from the trailer shows the grand throne room of the gods, a sign that Olympus itself will play a major role this time around.

According to Disney’s official synopsis, Percy learned after completing 2 epic quests with Annabeth Chase that he would be lost without her. When Kronos’s forces capture her, he sets out on a dangerous journey to bring her home.

Along the way, Percy has to free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse, and keep Olympus from falling. Grover joins him, and the pair teams up with some unlikely questmates to face a prophecy with dire consequences.

Disney’s earlier synopsis also points to a Great Prophecy from the Oracle of Delphi. It says a demigod child of the Big Three will either raise Olympus to new heights or bring it to ruin, and their own life will be on the line either way.

Walker Scobell is back as Percy Jackson, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth and Aryan Simhadri as Grover. Charlie Bushnell returns as Luke Castellan, and Tamara Smart plays the recently resurrected Thalia Grace, who joins the rescue mission.

The season also introduces several major new characters. Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie play siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo, while Dafne Keen takes on the goddess Artemis and Saara Chaudry plays Zoë Nightshade of the Hunters of Artemis.

Holt McCallany joins as the Titan Atlas, and David Costabile plays the menacing Dr. Thorn. Jesse L. Martin plays Frederick Chase, Annabeth’s mortal father. The new season also expands the pantheon. Hubert Smielecki plays Apollo, Ming-Na Wen plays Hera, and Jennifer Beals plays Demeter, while Kate McKinnon appears as Aphrodite.

These newcomers join a roster of established gods that includes Courtney B. Vance as Zeus, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes. With so many Olympians involved, the throne room imagery in the new trailer looks like a deliberate signal.

Season 3 premieres with 2 episodes, titled “My Rescue Operation Goes Very Wrong” and “An Old Dead Friend Comes to Visit.” New episodes then arrive weekly on Disney+, and the season also streams on Hulu.

Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg created the series, and both serve as executive producers alongside Dan Shotz, Craig Silverstein, and others. Filming on the new season reportedly wrapped early this year.

Disney+ hasn’t announced a fourth season yet. However, Inverse reports that Riordan and his team have started developing scripts based on ‘The Battle of the Labyrinth’, so fans may not have to wait long for news once this chapter is done.
