Pete Holmes Says Wolverine Is “Worthless” Compared to Other X-Men

Comedian Pete Holmes, known for his funny takes on popular superheroes like Batman and Professor X, recently shared his opinion on which X-Men character is the most useless—and his answer might surprise you.
During an interview, Holmes was asked, “Which X-Men is the most expendable?” Without missing a beat, he named one of the most popular characters in the franchise.
“Wolverine, f*ckin’ get him outta here,” Holmes said. “He’s a bar fight hero. He’s the coolest, not saying he’s not the coolest. He’s worthless.“
Holmes made it clear that while Wolverine looks cool and is a fan favorite, he doesn’t think the character would be very helpful in saving the world from a big threat.
“Superheroes are supposed to save us from a meteorite coming towards the Earth,” he continued. “Wolverine will just be like ‘sniff sniff it’s closer,’ like he’ll just smell it coming.”
He joked that Wolverine’s enhanced senses, like his super-smelling, wouldn’t do much to stop something like a giant meteor. Instead, Holmes pointed out that other X-Men have powers that could actually help in world-saving situations.
He gave Rogue as an example of someone more useful. “Rogue, she can do something,” he said, suggesting her ability to absorb other people’s powers makes her a more powerful and flexible team member.
Holmes has a long history of poking fun at superhero logic in his online sketches. He’s played a version of Professor X firing X-Men for having “pointless” powers and has joked about superhero weaknesses and flaws. This latest comment fits right in with his comedic style—mixing humor with some sharp takes on superhero culture.
Fans of Wolverine might not agree with Holmes, but it’s all in good fun. And whether you agree or not, Pete Holmes definitely knows how to stir up a fun superhero debate.
