A new look at the main characters of the upcoming MCU movie Thor: Love and Thunder has been recently revealed thanks to Hasbro and LEGO® toy sets which we recently wrote about. And now, while we are still waiting for the first official trailer, there are other big news and potential rumors about the movie all around us.
Peter Dinklage, best known for the role of Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones and the role of Bolivar Trask in Fox’s Marvel movie X-Men: Days of the Future Past, starred as Eitri the Dwarf King in Avengers: Infinity War. Although he had a minor role, his role turned out to be crucial for the character development of Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder. Eitri created Stormbreaker, which became Thor’s signature weapon after Hela destroyed Mjölnir in Thor: Ragnarok.
But in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder, we might see Eitri again, which actually makes a lot of sense. Original Mjölnir was destroyed by Hela in Ragnarok, and Mjölnir that Thor and Captain America used in Avengers: Endgame was returned to its own time at the end of the movie. So now, there’s no Mjölnir in the main MCU timeline, but it was announced that the famous weapon will return because Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster is set to wield its power and become Mighty Thor.
Although he remained coy about his return, Dinklage teased that his future at Marvel isn’t over yet:
“Well, there’s another Thor movie there, isn’t there? Coming out that Taika’s directed. But, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything. If you die in a Marvel movie, doesn’t mean it’s your last Marvel movie. That’s the crazy thing, it doesn’t matter. Somebody could make a TV—now, there’s TV shows. It’s Marvel World, we’re just all part of it.” — Peter Dinklage for Empire
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi returns to write and direct the fourth installment of the Thor franchise. Thor: Love and Thunder is set to land in theaters on July 8, 2022. We are expecting the first trailer soon!
