Reportedly, ‘Captain Marvel 3’ and ‘Ant-Man 4’ Are No Longer Being Considered for Development

In 2023, three MCU movies hit theaters: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ and ‘The Marvels.’ Unfortunately, only one of them found success, with ‘Ant-Man 3’ and ‘The Marvels’ both flopping. It’s especially disappointing because ‘Ant-Man 3’ was supposed to kick off Phase 5 and introduce a major villain, Kang the Conqueror.
While the characters themselves aren’t to blame—both ‘Ant-Man’ films were hits—’The Marvels’ didn’t fare as well as its predecessor, ‘Captain Marvel,’ which grossed over $1.131 billion globally. Now, according to insider Daniel Richtman, sequels to ‘Quantumania’ and ‘The Marvels’ might not happen, as the studio aims to focus on safer bets and avoid risky projects like these.
In a recent update on his private Patreon, Richtman also mentioned that ‘Eternals 2’ is no longer being worked on, likely for similar reasons.
But don’t fret, our favorite superheroes aren’t going away. Ant-Man and Captain Marvel are expected to join future ‘Avengers’ films. And for fans of young Cassie and Ms. Marvel, a movie centered around the Young Avengers is still in the works and making progress.
