Resident Evil is one of the most known multi-media franchises ever. Known in Japan as Biohazard, the franchise started with the original Resident Evil video game in 1996. Since then, the franchise spawned numerous video games, movies, novels, comics, and other merchandise. The franchise also spawned animated series, but never a live-action series, until now.

Last March, Netflix revealed that the series will premiere on July 14, and now we got the first official teaser for the upcoming series:

“The Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse. Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.” — Resident Evil, official synopsis

The franchise kicked off with the original video game in 1996. After that six main games and countless bonus games were developed. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, was released in 2017. In 2019 and 2020, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were re-released as remakes, and Resident Evil Village was released in May 2021. The next game should be the long-delayed Resident Evil RE:Verse, which has no definitive release date, but it is supposed to arrive this year, hopefully.

The Resident Evil series will consist of 8 episodes. It is starring Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery.

Resident Evil TV series is set to premiere on July 14, 2022, exclusively on Netflix.
