One of the highly anticipated upcoming projects in the MCU is ‘Thunderbolts.’ Production was planned to begin in Summer 2023, with the cast likely to include familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the industry was halted for over three months due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, causing delays in the movie’s progress. While little is known about the overall plot, it’s understood to follow a group of antiheroes on government missions. With ‘Thunderbolts’ now slated for shooting, official casting calls may offer insights into the plot elements to expect.

Social media discussions suggest that Central Casting Georgia is in search of a photo double for a 14-year-old white girl with brown hair. This could indicate that the studio is seeking a younger version of Antonia Dreykov, suggesting potential flashbacks in the film. This information was initially reported by Thunderbolts updates on X.

Olga Kurylenko is set to reprise her role as Antonia Dreykov, also known as Taskmaster. Taskmaster possesses photographic reflexes, allowing her to replicate opponents’ fighting techniques. Initially, under her father Dreykov’s control for Red Room missions, she was freed by Black Widow.

The movie was originally scheduled to begin shooting in March or April of this year, and rumors suggest filming may have already commenced, with reports of Sebastian Stan’s absence on set. However, this absence doesn’t necessarily signify anything significant at this stage. ‘Thunderbolts’ has faced challenges in development, including the SAG-AFTRA strike and Steven Yeun’s departure from the role of Sentry just before shooting was set to start. Lewis Pullman has been reportedly considered as Yeun’s replacement, with rumors later confirmed by the studio.

Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz will return as Bill Foster and Melina Vostokoff in the MCU. Geraldine Viswanathan joined the cast as de Fontaine’s assistant following a scheduling issue that caused another actor to leave. The release date of the film was changed to May 2, 2025, swapping with The Fantastic Four. Joanna Calo was assigned to revise the script, which previously centered on the team’s mission and the possibility of their deaths.
